Struggling once again in the early stages of the game, the Thunder started slow and could never crawl out of the hole, losing to the Sussex Hamilton Jr. Chargers Red team 10-4. Behind 10-0, the Thunder picked up 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Ayden Spykstra started the inning with a smash to the gap in left center field for a double. After a Christian Ketter walk, Reid Woods lined a hit to right field to score Spykstra and the Thunder were on the board. Back to back walks to Noah Doedens and Caden Bast helped plate a run and a great at bat by Jack Miller and outstanding base running by Woods plated another. A passed ball plated the final run of the inning for the only scoring the Thunder would do on the night. The inning ended with the bases loaded and a chance to turn the game around was narrowly missed.
Joey Pettit started and took the loss for the Thunder. Sam Lemler, Ayden Spykstra, and Lukas Broske pitched very well for the Thunder, allowing only one run in a combined 2.2 innings of work. Spykstra and Broske continue to perform very well on the mound as neither has allowed a batter to score yet this season. The Thunder hope to turn things around in the very tough Appleton Panthers Fox Cities Classic this weekend.
