Playing a New Berlin Magic team that had lost only 1 League game in 7 chances was just the test the Thunder 5th grade team needed to see if the winning streak would stay alive.  After a solid 8-1 victory, the Thunder can officially say they have hit their stride.  Dominant pitching and outstanding base running proved to be the difference.  Ayden Spykstra started on the mound, getting the win while limiting the Magic to 1 run in three solid innings. Gavin Hinckely followed with his best pitching performance of the season, tossing 3 shut out innings.  Joey Pettit came on in the 7th to slam the door on the victory, allowing no runs after surrendering a lead off double.  The Thunder defense was alive and well, committing only one error in the game while turning in a very solid game behind their pitchers.

Offensively, the Thunder were lead by CJ Henschel.  CJ walked all 3 at bats and scored 3 runs to lead the charge.  New Berlin had no magic potion for the Thunder running game as Henschel had 4 of the Thunder's 12 stolen bases on the day.  Add to that the 6 passed balls that advanced Thunder runners and it was easy to see how the Thunder dominated the base passes.  Pettit had 2 hits and a walk, 2 RBI, and scored 2 runs and Sam Lemler added a hit and 2 RBI, to lead the Thunder offense which scored 2 runs in each the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th innings.

With the victory, the Thunder have now won 3 in a row and 4 of their last 5 to pull within one game of the .500 mark for the season.  The will also raised the Thunder record in league play to 4-3.  The Thunder hope to stay on the path of victory with a game Thursday night against the Boss Blue Baseball Academy at Lemke Field in Mequon.  Game time is 5:30.
