In our 5th and final game of the day last Saturday, we faced the Tomboyz, once again. But this game was a little different than when they had first seen us that day.

In the first inning, the Tomboyz were able to sneak one run in, but were soon shut down with the final out at first on a hit covered by Briliegh from the mound.

During the second inning, Emony was walked (possibly on purpose?) and was able to steal 2nd and 3rd. But that is as far as she would get in that inning. But for the Tomboyz, it was 3 up and 3 down, with Brileigh striking out all 3 batters.

The third inning looked more promising for the Rockers. Bailey and Da Da got the most out of their advances to 1st on a walk for Bailey and a wild pitch that hit Da Da. Both stole to 3rd, and then made it home. RBI's for Kate & Brileigh!

We held our opponents at 1 during the 3rd inning. Only one batter had a hit off Briliegh, but once again, she struck 3 more batters out.

The 4th inning was the nail biter. With 2 outs on us, Brittany got herself a double, and Georgia, after being hit by a pitch, advanced to 1st. Of course, by now, Brittany had stolen to 3rd and was ready to score. However, we were shut down before we could nail that extra run down to secure our lead.

Our defense worked hard to hold the Tomboyz at 1 run, knowing that this was the last inning. But the Tomboyz were still able to sneak 2 runs in, giving them a lead of 1 run, and initiating the umpire to yell, "Ballgame!"

It's a little bittersweet, of course, to realize just how close we were to potentially WINNING this entire tournament. However, the sweetness overcomes all else, when the realization of where we ARE comes into play.

This was our first tournament. The team that won 1st place only beat us by ONE point in the last inning. The team that came in second had already been defeated by us before elimination play.

We know something for certain that we did not know before last Saturday- We truly have the potential to WIN tournaments!

We learned something very valuable. Not only do the Rockers have talent, and some of the best attitudes we've ever seen...

The Rockers are Good... REALLY, REALLY good!

What an exciting season we have ahead of us.
