With the first full week of play complete the Lady Pirates are 2 and 2.
Our season opener against Mt. Rainier was not what we had hoped for (15-0 loss), but the Lady Pirates bounced back and fought hard against Kennedy Catholic...that contest ended in a 8-3 loss, but the play improved and the bats came alive. Sam Erben went 4 for 4, while Rayna Mcelwain pitched beautifully.
Mid-week the Lady Pirates hosted Renton. That contest ended after 3.5 innings when we reached the 15-0 mercy rule. The highlights in this game were the dominating pitching of Mikki Haury and the grand slam by Meghan "B-Dub" Beswetherick.
The week ended with a Highline 9-1 victory over Foster. Highlights: Sierra Flanagan went 3 for 4 with 3 stolen bases, Casey Young went 2 for 2 with 5 stolen bases and both Rayna Mcelwain and Mikki Haury's pitching held Foster to just 4 hits.
Thank you to all our fans for the great support during this first week. We look forward to seeing you this week as we face Lindbergh and Tyee. |
