MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon VFW baseball team won the I-90 League Midseason Tournament championship Saturday.

Mount Vernon defeated White Lake/Kimball, 9-4, to take the title.

Nate Zens was the winning pitcher for Mount Vernon, which is 15-2. He threw three innings and gave up four hits, two earned runs, five walks and he struck out six.

Offensively, Brian Vermeulen went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Jake Sonne went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Nate Zens went 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs.

Nick Miller, Dean Frey and Justin Davis each had a hit.

For White Lake/Kimball, Kyle Peters was tagged with the loss. He went two innings, allowing six hits, five earned runs and two walks.

Dillon Konechne went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Jacob Kirsch was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Trevor Reinesch went 1-for-4 with a double.

Also in the tournament, Corsica/Stickney took third place, Parkston took fourth and Armour defeated Emery/Alexandria, 14-13 in eight innings.
