TABOR — The Tyndall 13-14-year-old VFW baseball team defeated Mount Vernon in the Region 3B tournament over the weekend to earn a spot in the Class B state tournament.

Like Tyndall, Mount Vernon also earned a berth to the state tournament.

Mount Vernon defeated Lennox 15-0 in its first game of the weekend. It then beat Ethan 11-1 before losing to Tyndall 22-9 in its third game.

It beat Canova/Howard 14-7 in its fourth game and lost to Tyndall 12-6 in the championship.

Mount Vernon improved to 17-7 on the season and will play in the upcoming state tournament, which begins Friday and runs through Sunday in Flandreau.
