Coors Light continued their torrid offensive output Friday Night, slugging another 33 hits; 4 of which left the yard. Unfortunately for the squad, the Starrs’s (3-1) bats were just a little better; as they plated 28 runs and narrowly handed Coors Light their first defeat of the season (3-1).
The unlikely duo of Pete Robillard (4-5, HR, 5RBI) and John Powers (3-4, 5RBI) combined for almost half of the teams RBIs; as both players continued to wildly exceed preseason expectations.
Seven other Coors Light hitters reached base at least three times on the night: Bobby McCarthy (3-3, 3RBI), Buff Robillard (3-3, 2B, 2HR#2/#3, 4RBI), Scott “Savage” Umbrianna (4-5), Captain Joe Voci (3-4, 2RBI), Brian Brown (3-5, 2B, RBI), Jim Antonetti (3-5, HR#3, 3RBI), and Ryan Ostiguy (2-4, RBI).
Smokey Wiener (2-4) just missed making the above list; however, he was gunned down, in a sometimes attempted, but rarely (as in triple play rare) executed 10-3 putout (and by a few steps I might add).
Voci, filling in for a DJ’ing Steve Perkins, fell to 1-1 on the year but luckily left the field with his nuts (and all other body parts) in tact.
Pending weather, Coors Light faces winless TPG (0-5) Monday @6:45 in what should be another easy victory for the squad. |
