Posted May 24/11 - Mon 5/23, Coors Light survives, 20-17

Up 15-3 after 4, Coors Light appeared to be headed for another easy win against Moe’s Tavern.  However, as is sometimes the case with Coors Light; overconfidence set in (it’s over, what’s the B’s score? I need to tweet, etc) and the team found themselves in an 18-17 battle after five and half innings.  Moe’s threatened in the 7th, but Captain Joe Voci got the opposition’s clean up hitter to bounce back to the mound with two on and two out to end things.  The win moves Coors Light into sole possession of first place in the B division (4-1).

The offense was erratic, somewhat expected after a 10 day layoff, but still managed 24 hits (9 for extra bases).  “DJ Cowboy Steve” Perkins led the charge, hitting for the cycle and driving in 9 on the night (4-5, 2B, 3B, HR, 9 RBI).  Also contributing were Ichiro Robillard (5-6, 2B, RBI), Pete "14-17 to start the year" Robillard (4-5, 2B, 2RBI), Voci (3-4, 2 RBI), Joe Nichols (3-5, 2 2B, 2RBI), Buff Robillard (2-3, 2B, HR, 3RBI), and Jim Antonetti (2-5, RBI).

Amazingly, Smokey Wiener (1-4) could not take advantage of the three man infield as he continued to struggle (.333 over his last three).  However, he did manage to secure his team leading 5th base on balls of the year.

Voci was not at his best Monday Night but picked up the victory and moved to 2-1 on the season.  The Coors Light defense (led by the infield) was shaky at best.

Coors Light takes on Central Market (2-1) Wednesday @7:45 in a battle of one loss teams.
