Coors Light found a way to cough one up in a game in which they were up 11-6 heading into the last frame. A combination of middle infield errors (Pete/Nichols), an untimely walk, and poor umpiring all contributed to an epic 7th inning collapse that saw Coors Light fall 12-11 to Central in a game in which they never trailed (until the end). The tough loss dropped Coors Light to 4-2 on the early season.
The Central pitcher was so erratic (7 walks) that it actually kept the Coors Light hitters off balance all night (14-33, .424). Unaffected by the opposing pitcher’s wildness were Buff Robillard (3-3, 2B, HR, 4RBI) and the savvy veteran Smokey Wiener (2-2), both of whom reached base successfully a combined 7 times. Unfortunately, the remainder of the line up was a dismal 9-28 (.321).
Captain Joe Voci (2-2) cruised most of the night, but was his outing was ultimately undone by poor defense.
Coors Light takes on The Hive (3-1) Wednesday @8:45, as they look to rebound from a bitter defeat. |
