Due to some last minute bailouts, Coors Light was forced to face A division powerhouse Starrs with only 8; not a recipe for success. Without a 2B and 4th outfielder, Starrs picked apart the Coors Light defense with ease. The outcome was a resounding 21-6 victory by the opposition, as Coors Light fell to 10-7 on the season (1-6 against A division teams). With the tough part of their ’11 schedule over, the team will now look to build on their narrow one game (first place) lead.
The offense did manage 14 hits over five innings; however, they could only secure a single extra base hit.
Ryan Ostiguy 2-3, BB
Joe Nichols 3-4, 2B, 2RBI
Scott Umbrianna 2-4, 3RBI
Bobby McCarthy 2-4
Joe Voci 2-3
Smokey Wiener 2-3
John Powers 1-3
Aaron Benedetti 0-4, RBI
Captain Voci (3-5) fell to 0-4 on the season against A teams, as the Starrs’ hitters took full advantage of the Coors Light defensive alignment.
Coors Light (H) faces cellar dweller, TPG Monday @7:45; as 11 of the team’s final 12 games will be against B division opponents. |
