Posted Aug 3/10 - Mon 8/2, Coors Light falls short again

Coors Light lost its 9th straight Monday Night, coming out on the wrong side of a 22-18 tilt.  In doing so, the team fell to 7-21 (with one victory by forfeit and another against a team with only eight guys), securing its worst season since they went 4-26; their first season in the BMSL.

The team jumped out for five runs in the first and had the bases loaded with only one down, but the opposition was able to prevent anything further damage.  From there, the Emma’s bats woke up and they jumped out to a healthy 14-7 lead midway through the contest.  Coors Light showed some heart, cutting opposition leads to 14-12 in the 5th and 20-18 in the 6th.  However, Emma’s tacked on a couple of insurance runs in the 7th and Coors Light went quietly in the bottom half to end things.

The offense was not the problem Monday Night, as every starter (except Smokey Wiener and John Powers; a combined 0-7) had at least two hits.  Bobby McCarthy (2-2, 3 R, 2 BB, RBI), Chris Washburn (3-3, 3B, 4 RBI, SF), Steve Perkins (4-4, 3 R, 2B), Jeff Stastny (3-4, 2 R, 2B, 3 RBI), Jim Antonetti (2-3, 3 R, BB, 3B, RBI), Joe Nichols (2-3, 2 R, 3 RBI, SF), Benedetti (2-4, R, 3B, 4 RBI), AJ Andrews (2-4, 3 R, BB, HR, 2 RBI), Pete Robillard (2-4), Captain Joe Voci (2-4), and semi-retired veteran Scott Washburn (0-0, R, BB) all contributed to the 18 run/24 hit performance.

Andrews, making his first start of the year, took the loss on the hill; as he continually went right after the opposition’s best, while pitching around Emma’s weak hitters.

Coors Light next faces third place DeGrace, Wednesday Night @8:45 before mercifully finishing the season up against last place TPG Monday Night @8:45.
