McGee tosses 3 hit comlete game shutout.Photobucket
The Rangers somehow found a way to win Saturday with 8 players. The key factor was Travis McGee. #5 tossed a complete game shutout with only seven players behind him in the field. (Tedder) " I was just trying to keep up with the outs and what inning it was but Travis pitched a heck of a game!" The Rangers pulled away in the 6th and 7th innings in route to their fourth consecutive win to start the season. (Crowe) " I had planned on throwing Jeremy but when he called in sick we planned on starting Alec or Travis and when Alec hits the ground in warm-ups with a knee injury you start thinking it could be a long night. I just hope Alec makes a fast recovery because he is a great guy to have on the field and in the dugout."

Rangers take over 1st place after defeating Jaxx
The Rangers jumped into first place Saturday after defeating the Atlanta Jaxx (3-1) 17-2 in a night game at Osbourne. The good guys jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the 1st and that proved to be more than enough for Alec Manfre who was asked to make his first start since last July. (Crowe) " We only had ten guys and, were missing four of our best arms so I knew Alec needed to give us some innings. Thankfully he pitched great like he did all of last season and gave us five great innings. That made the work load easy for Austin and Drew to close things out." The Rangers now 3-0 will turn their attention to the Cardinals who will host the Rangers on 6-4-11 at Campbell Middle at 7pm. Jeremy Bryan (1-0) will rejoin the team and make his second start of the season.

MABL UPDATE: Rangers say their playing through May 21st apocalypse.

Rangers send the Wolf Pack howling

The Rangers took the field Saturday with another skeleton squad, but regardless of the missing some key players the Rangers defeated the Wolf Pack in a division game 9-1. The Rangers capitalized on key hits and played another solid game in the field committing just one error in the nine innning contest. Pitching was dominate once again with Jeremy Bryan making his first start going five innings allowing just one hit and one run after a two out walk scored on a triple down the right field line. Travis McGee also logged two strong innings shutting down the wolf pack while rookie Austin Harris shut the door in the 9th.
Looking ahead the Rangers will face the 1st place Jaxx who lead the Rangers by a 1/2 game. (Crowe) " The Jaxx always play us tough. I expect a close game decided by 1-3 runs. As of now we have a handful of guys that are 50/50 on the game for various reasons but we will be ready with whatever squad we have."

Rangers add long time rival
The Rangers strengthened their roster by adding former Atlanta Spike James Martinez. Martinez will be joined by his former teammate Vince Palmer in Early June. In 2009 the Spikes knocked off the Indians and it was Martinez who did the bulk of the damage. Martinez homered twice in duiring the two games and drove home 6 runs duiring the best of three series that resulted in a two game sweep of the Tribe.

5-7-11
The Rangers slaughter Pirates
The Rangers started their defense of their division title on a good note Saturday by knocking off the Pirates 25-0. The offense rolled, scoring early and often forcing the Bucs to throw six pitchers in five innings before the mercy rule was enforced. The Rangers new stout defense was perfect allowing zero errors and the pitching was nearly perfect allowing just a flair single to right field. (Cecil) " Team looked great especially when you consider all of the guys we had missing today." (Dickhaus) " So far so good, just need to keep the momentum going this Saturday."

Looking ahead to this Saturday the Rangers will face off against the Wolf Pack in a division match up. (Crowe) " The Wolf Pack are always a threat, they played us pretty solid last season and I dont expect anything different this Saturday." The Rangers will likely start their new ace in 2011 Jeremy Bryan who missed game one of the season with flu like symptoms. The Rangers will also welcome back Travis McGee and Drew Tedder who both missed week one.

The Rangers are no stranger to the MABL.

Remember us ???

The Rangers formerly known as the Atlanta Indians simply elected for a little change. The Rangers retained Grant Crowe as their manager and are still owned by Butch Crowe.

Last season the Indians racked up 11 wins while dropping only 2 games on their way to a Division title. The Indians eventually fell in the MABL championship to the Atlanta Giants in a best of three series.

Looking ahead to the 2011 campaign the Rangers will return a strong nucleus of players while adding their best talent to date. (Crowe) "I'm cautiously optimistic this season could be very special. I feel our hitting has drastically improved, our pitching is stronger than it's ever been and our defense could play with most college teams. Recruiting early really paid big dividends this year and it was truly a team effort. We finally have a work horse/ace Jeremy Bryan. This guy always wants the baseball and I love that. Bryan had a successful career at Kennesaw State a few years ago because he doesnt just try to over power guys. He throws 85-90 but he knows how to pitch, change speeds and comand his pitches. He is a difference maker that will make our entire staff better because he will reduce the work load."

News: The Rangers will begin the 2011 season with 14-15 on their roster. The roster will expand in June when 2010 playoff hero Vince Palmer and veteran slugger Greg Keick return.

Indians 9 Dominican Republic 0 F/9
The Atlanta Indians picked up their 11th win of the season tonight defeating the Dominican Republic 9-0. The Indians started the game off strong, setting the Dominican Republic hitters down in the top of the first. In the bottom of the first Matt Senna drew a walk. Matt then stole secondbase and scored when Sam Cunningham hit a 2-run home run to center field, to put the Tribe out in front 2-0. Then in the top of the second, Brian Dickhouse made a great sliding play on a ground ball hit in the hole between 3rd and short. The throw to first pulled Blake Cecil (first baseman) off the bag. After catching the ball Blake attempted to tag the runner out. The runner over ran first, running far into the grass in effort to avoid the tag. The runner was called out for running out of the base line. The call led to the runner being ejected by the homeplate umpire. A few Dominican players came out onto the field to argue the ejection of their player. After many minutes of arguing the Dominican team stated that they refused to play. The umpire declared the game a forefit. The result in the boxscore is a 9-0 victory for the Tribe. The MABL grants one run per inning, while giving zero runs per inning to the forefitted team. The Indians have finished the season with a record of 11-2, tying their previous franchise regular season best record of 11-2 set back in 2006 when the Tribe were formally known as the Atlanta Reds.

Indians 5 Crawdads 1 F/9

The Indians cruised to their ninth win of the season with a 5-1 victory Saturday night. Starter Bryan Myers pitched 9 strong innings recording 15 strikeouts while giving up just one run on 2 hits. On the offensive side of the game Matt Senna led the charge with a four hit effort needing only a triple for the cycle. (Crowe) "This was a good team win. We got contributions up and down the lineup and on defense. Hopefully we can build on this win and keep the momentum going against the Jaxx." (stats will be added Tuesday from this game)

Indians 22 Pickles 4 F/9
The Indians bounced back from a devestating loss to the Giants with a blowout win over the Pickles. Bryan Myers threw his first compete game of the season, tossing all 8 innings on one and a half days rest. Every player on the team had a hit in the 22 run effort. While seven players recorded a multi-hit game. The Indians also walked a combined 15 times in the game. After the game manager Grant Crowe said, "I'm proud of our teams hitting today. Everyone on the team got a hit and almost everyone got a walk. Not only were we patientat the plate, but when we did see strikes, we were able to get hits." Next up for the Tribe is the 6-4 Crawdads.

Indians 3 Giants 8 F/8
THE TRIBE SLIPPED FARTHER OUT OF FIRST PLACE THURSDAY NIGHT AFTER FALLING 8-3 TO THEIR TOP RIVAL. (CROWE) " WE JUST GOT OUTPLAYED AND COACHED THURSDAY. BREW PITCHED A HECK OF A GAME AND SHUT US DOWN. YOU WOULD NEVER THINK HE HURT HIS ARM LAST YEAR, HE LOOKED REAT. I STILL HAVE ALL THE CONFIDENCE IN THE WORLD IN OUR EAM. WE HAVE A DEEP PITCHING STAFF AND I THINK THAT WILL BE BIG WHEN AND IF WE GET TO THE BEST OF 3 SEMI FINALS AND CHAMPIONSHIP. (MYERS) " THE GIANTS GOT THE BEST OF US TONIGHT, WE JUST LOOKED SLOPPY ALL GAME. BUT WE ARE BETTER THAN THAT AND WE ALL KNOW IT. WE ALSO HAD SOME HOLES IN THE TOP OF OUR BATTING ORDER. WHEN WE GET CECIL AND DICKHAUS BACK WERE GOING TO BE HARD TO STOP NO MATTER WHO IS PITCHING." (CROWE) " WE ARE GOING TO PUT THIS ONE BEHIND US AND MOVE ON. WE NEED TO WIN SATURDAY AND SO ON TO MAKE SURE WE GET A GOOD SEED FOR THE PLAYOFFS I'M A BIG BELIEVER IN NOT GETTING TOO HIGH AFTER A WIN AND NOT GETTING TOO LOW AFTER A LOSS." NEXT FOR THE TRIBE IS THE 1-8 PICKLES. THE INDIANS WILL BE GOING FOR THEIR 8TH WIN OF THE SEASON.

July 11, 2009
Indians 22 Stars 6 F/9
THE TRIBE KEPT THINGS ROLLING UNDER THE LIGHT SATURDAY WITH A BLOWOUT WIN OVER THE STRUGGLING ATLANTA STARS. THE INDIANS GOT THE JOB DONE WITHOUT FOUR STARTERS. ONE OF THE STARTERS MISSING THE ACTION WAS GRANT CROWE WHO HANDED THE TEAM OVER TO BLAKE CECIL. (CECIL) " I WAS PUMPED ABOUT COACHING THIS GAME AND I THOUGHT THE TEAM PLAYED GREAT DESPITE BEING SHORT HANDED." COMING UP NEXT FOR THE INDIANS IS THE DIVISION LEADING GIANTS. THE INDIANS WILL BE MISSING JOHN UNLAP, BRIAN DICKHAUS, AND BLAKE CECIL. BUT THEY WILL ALSO WELCOME BACK BRYAN MYERS, GRANT CROWE, AND MATT METHVIN.

June 27, 2009
Indians 8 Spikes 7 F/9
THE INDIANS MET THEIR BIGGEST TEST OF THE SEASON SATURDAY WHEN THEY FACED OFF AGAINST THE ATLANTA SPIKES (2008 MABL CHAMPIONS). THE TRIBE JUMPED ON THE BOARD FIRST WITH A 1-0 LEAD IN THE TOP HALF OF THE FIRST COMPLIMENTS OF SAM CUNNINGHAMS 3RD HOMERUN OF THE SEASON. BUT THE SPIKES ANSWERED RIGHT BACK WITH 4 RUNS OF THEIR OWN IN THE BOTTOM HALF. BUT THAT DIDNT STOP THE INDIANS WHO DIALED LONG DISTANCE TWO MORE TIMES TO TAKE A 6-4 LEAD. ONCE STARTER SAM CUNNINGHAM GOT THE LEAD HE NEVER LOOKED BACK, AFTER A SHAKY FISRT INNING SAM HELD THE SPIKES TO 0 RUNS OVER HIS LAST FOUR INNINGS OF WORK. (CROWE) " SAM CAME UP BIG, HE GOT THROUGH THE FIRST AND REALLY SETTLED DOWN AND THATS WHAT GOOD PITCHERS DO. HE KNOWS HOW TO PITCH AND HE DOES IT WELL. AND I CANT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT WOODY WHO JUST JOINED THE CLUB LAST WEEK. I HAD TEDDER WARMED UP READY TO TAKE THE BALL IN THE 6TH BUT HE FELT SOME TIGHTNESS AND WE DECIDED NOT TO TEST IT. AND THAT PUT THE KID (WOODY) ON THE HOTSEAT AND HE DID A GREAT JOB. HE HAS SOME NASTY STUFF AND I CAN SEE WHY HE GOT THE SCHOLARSHIP OFFERS HE GOT. HE KNEW I WANTED HIM TO FINISH THE GAME AND HE GOT IT DONE. THIS WAS A GREAT TEAM WIN UP AND DOWN THE LINEUP AND ON DEFENSE. WE HAVE SOME GREAT ATTITUDES AND GREAT ALL AROUND PLAYERS WHO WANT THE TEAM TO DO GOOD AND PUT THE TEAM BEFORE THEMSELVES." OTHER NOTES FROM THE GAME INCLUDE BLAKE CECIL AND DREW TEDDER GOING DEEP FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON PUTTING THE TEAM TOTAL TO 8 ON THE YEAR.

June 23, 2009
"INDIANS ADD ANOTHER KEY ARM TO ROTATION"
JUST WHEN YOU THINK THE INDIANS ARE DONE ADJUSTING THEIR ROSTER THEY ADD ANOTHER ARM TO THE ROTATION. (CROWE) "PITCHING WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS AND I DONT WANT ANOTHER SITUATION LIKE LAST YEAR WHERE WE LOSE GUYS IN THE PLAYOFFS AND RUN OUT OF ARMS. OUR NEWEST ADDITION WOODY BASS WILL BE A LIFT TO OUR ROTATION. WOODY IS CURRENTLY STILL PITCHING IN COLLEGE AND WILL USE HIS TIME WITH THE INDIANS TO IMPROVE HIS GAME, AND THAT MAKES OUR TEAM EXCITED. WHEN MYERS (BRYAN) LEFT FOR THE CONTINENTAL LEAGUE I KNEW I HAD TO MAKE SOME MOVES. AND WE BROUGHT IN CUNNINGHAM, TEDDER, BRAWNER, AND TODAY WE ADDED WOODY. THESE GUYS ARE ALL SOLID PITCHERS THAT I WOULD FEEL CONFIDENT STARTING GAME THREE OF A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME." THIS SATURDAY THE TRIBE WILL HAVE THE MAJORITY OF THEIR ARMS READY TO TAKE THE HILL AGAINST THE SPIKES. THE ONLY NOTABLE PLAYERS UNABLE TO MAKE THE GAME WILL BE ISAAC ROBLES, AND BRYAN MYERS WHO HAS BEEN OUT THREE WEEKS.

June 20, 2009
Indians 8 Cubs 5 F/9
AFTER SUFFERING A TOUGH LOSS TUESDAY THE INDIANS B OUNCED BACK WITH A 8-5 WIN OVER THE CUBS. ONCE AGAIN THE TRIBE WAS MISSING FIVE PLAYERS, BUT THAT WASNT ENOUGH TO STOP THE GOOD GUYS FROM IMPROVING TO 5-1 ON THE SEASON. (CROWE) 'THIS WAS AN UGLY WIN BUT WE WILL TAKE IT. I DONT KNOW OF ONE TEAM THAT HASNT BEEN THE BENEFICIARY OF A FEW UGLY WINS. OUR NEXT GAME WILL BE A BIG TEST. THE SPIKES HAVE ALL OF OUR RESPECT, BUT WE ARE GOING TO PLAY THEM HARD ALL 9 INNINGS. THEIR STILL THE TEAM TO BEAT BECAUSE THEY WON IT ALL LAST YEAR AND THEY DESERVE RESPECT." SOME OTHER NOTES FROM SATURDAYS GAME INCLUDE DREW TEDDER (THE INDIANS NEWEST ADDITON) THROWING FIVE INNINGS ALLOWING ZERO EARNED RUNS WHILE GOING 2-2 AT THE PLATE WITH TWO WALKS.

June 18, 2009
"INDIANS BOLSTER PITCHING STAFF"
THE ATLANTA INDIANS HAVE SIGNED FORMER PRO RHP JIM BRAUNER TO A ONE YEAR DEAL. BRAUNER IS A VETERAN THAT KNOWS HOW TO PITCH. HIS FASTBALL WILL GET UP TO 90 AND HE IS GOING TO BE A GREAT CLOSER. (CROWE) I'M PUMPED ABOUT THE NEW ADDITIONS WE HAVE MADE. I THINK TEDDER AND BRAUNER ARE GOING TO GIVE US SOME GREAT OPTIONS DOWN THE STRETCH. WHEN WE HAVE OUR FULL STAFF IT'S GOING TO BE GREAT BUT IN THE MEAN TIME THEY WILL HOLD DOWN THE FORT. BRAUNER WILL BE OUR 8TH AND 9TH INNING GUY AND THATS WHAT HE IS USED TO DOING. I WILL HOPEFULLY GET THEM BOTH AN INNING OR TWO THIS SATURDAY AGAINST THE CUBS.

IN EFFORT TO SOLIDIFY THEIR PITCHING STAFF THE INDIANS SIGNED FREE AGENT LHP DREW TEDDER TO A ONE YEAR DEAL. DREW IS A PROVEN PITCHER WHO MADE IT TO THE COLLEGE RANKS AS A CRAFTY LEFTY. INDIANS ALSO DESIGNATE LHP DAVE SMETENA FOR ASSIGNMENT. RUHMOR IS THE TRIBE IS NEAR A DEADLINE DEAL TO ADD ANOTHER RHP RELIEF PITCHER.

June 16, 2009
Indians 7 Cardinals 13 F/9
IT WAS THE CARDINALS NIGHT AND THEY PLAYED GOOD BASEBALL. DESPITE JUMPING OUT TO A 7-0 THE INDIANS FAILED TO SECURE THE WIN. SHORT ON PLAYERS AND PRIMARILY PITCHING THE TRIBE WAS FORCED TO PLAY WITH OUT BRYAN MYERS AND SAM CUNNINGHAM DUE TO A HIGH PITCH COUNT SATURDAY. (CROWE) " IT WAS JUST ONE OF THOSE DAYS WHEN WE COULDNT CATCH A BREAK AND THEY DID. BUT THE CARDINALS DIDNT GET LUCKY, THEY PLAYED GOOD BASEBALL AND GOT SOME TIMELY HITS. WE HAD A SKELETON SQUAD TEAM BUT WE STILL SHOULD HAVE PLAYED BETTER. I STILL LOVE OUR TEAM AND OUR CHANCES COME PLAYOFF TIME. WHEN WE HAVE MYERS AND CUNNINGHAM ON THE HILL WE ARE TOUGH TO BEAT NO MATTER WHO WE PLAY. BUT WE NEED TO PLAY BETTER REGARDLESS OF WHO IS PITCHING." THE INDIANS ARE NOW 4-1 AND ONE GAME BEHIND THE FIRST PLACE GIANTS.

June 13, 2009
Indians 15 Braves 0 F/9
DESPITE MISSING FIVE PLAYERS AND WORKHORSE BRYAN MYERS THE TRIBE BLANKED THE BRAVES 15-0. THE GAME STARTED SLOW FOR THE TRIBE BUT THE INDIANS EVENTUALLY PUT THE GAME OUT OF REACH IN THE 6TH INNING. (CROWE) " GETTING SAM THIS WEEK WAS HUGE FOR OUR TEAM BECAUSE WE WERE MISSING A LOT OF KEY GUYS. HE PRETTY MUCH CARRIED US UNTIL OUR BATS CAME ALIVE AND HE ADDED A THREE RUN HOMER OF HIS OWN IN THE 7TH." NEXT UP FOR THE INDIANS IS THE CARDINALS. IF THE TRIBE CAN WIN THEY WILL PULL EVEN WITH THE 5-0 GIANTS FOR A FIRST PLACE TIE.

June 10, 2009
POCKET ACES
THE TRIBE ADDED ANOTHER SOLID ARM TO THEIR PITCHING STAFF TUESDAY WITH THE ADDITION OF SAM CUNNINGHAM. SAM PLAYED HIS COLLEGE BALL IN THE HEART OF ATLANTA AT EMORY UNIVERSITY BEFORE HE WHENT ON TO PLAY PROFESSIONAL BALL IN THE INDEPENDENT LEAGUE. SAM WILL LIKELY PLAY PROFESSIONALLY AGAIN NEXT YEAR, BUT IN THE MEAN TIME HE WILL MAKE CAMP WITH THE TRIBE. THE INDIANS WORKHORSE AND STAFF ACE BRYAN MYERS WILL BE OUT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON AFTER SIGNING WITH THE COASTAL KINGFISH OF THE CONTINENTAL BASEBALL LEAGUE. MYERS MAY POSSIBLY BE ABSENT UNTIL THE PLAYOFFS. BUT WHEN HE RETURNS TO THE ROSTER, THE INDIANS WILL HAVE THE LUXURY OF HAVING TWO ACE PITCHERS. (POCKET ACES)

LOOK WHO'S TALKING
If teams thought the Indians were doomed to have a down year in 09 they better think again. Despite losing 6 players (3 starters) the Tribe has sprinted out of the gates looking stronger than ever. (CROWE) " A lot of teams like to talk big and stick their chest out, but I look at that as a weakness or insecurity. We just show up every week to play baseball and see how the chips fall. I like the Ronald Reagan mentality of speak softly and carry a big stick. Our squad has improved every year and this year is no exception. I think we have shown our depth and mental toughness early this year. We have played every game thus far missing atleast two starters. And that gets me excited." (Cecil) "We have a lineup that gets the job done 1-10 and thats rare in this league. We get just as excited when 8,9,10 comes up as we do when 1,2,3 come up to the dish." If one thing can be said about the Indians thus far it's this. Their contenders not pretenders.

June 6, 2009
Indians 14 Jaxx 7 F/8
The Tribes offense flexed their muscle once again on Saturday with an impressive 14-7 win over a much improved Jaxx team. (CROWE) This was a good team win against a strong opponent, we got production throughout our entire lineup and our pitching was great again. Our team’s strong suit is our offense and defense but we played awful defense Saturday. Thankfully we showed up with the bats again and scored enough to make the shaky defense irrelevant. But we are much better than that." Next up for the Indians is the Braves who shouldn’t be taken lightly, the 2009 expansion team ended the defending champion Atlanta Spikes 17 game winning streak last week. And will try to end the Indians perfect start. The Indians will likely start ace Bryan Myers.

ON BEHALF OF THE ATLANTA INDIANS WE
WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS OUR DEEPEST
SYMPOTHY FOR JAY CHAPMAN 3B/2B OF THE
ATLANTA JAXX RIP. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH
HIM AND HIS FAMILY.

May 9, 2009
Indians 16 Dominican Republic 4 F/9
THE TRIBE DIDNT TAKE LONG TO PICK UP FROM LAST SEASON. THE NEW LOOK INDIANS SHOWED JUST HOW POTENT THEIR OFFENSE CAN BE WHILE TALLYING UP 16 RUNS AND STRIKING OUT A MERE TWO TIMES AS A TEAM. THE INDIANS DID ALL OF THIS DESPITE PLAYING WITHOUT TWO KEY STARTERS. BRYAN MYERS PITCHED SOLID AND RECORDED HIS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON ADDING TO HIS OPENING DAY DOMINANCE AND IMPROVING HIS OPENING DAY RECORD TO 3-0. BUT IT WASNT JUST A ONE MAN SHOW, THE ENTIRE OFFENSE AND DEFENSE CAME TO PLAY AND IT SHOWED. (CROWE) "ALL IN ALL WE PLAYED REALLY WELL. I WAS REALLY HAPPY WITH THE WAY WE PERFORMED AND ALSO HOW THE ATMOSPHERE IN THE DUGOUT FELT. OUR TEAM CHEMISTRY LACKED LAST YEAR BUT IT SEEMS TO BE BACK. THE DR TEAM WAS SOLID AND KEPT IT CLOSE, BUT THANKFULLY OUR OFFENSE FOUND SOME HOLES THAT WE COULDNT FIND EARLY ON. THEY WILL HAVE A GOOD SEASON I HAVE NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.... AND I THINK WE WILL TOO" NEXT UP FOR THE INDIANS WILL BE THE CARDINALS AT SHILO HILLS. THIS WILL BE ANOTHER GOOD CHALLENGE FOR THE TRIBE.

April 8, 2009
THE INDIANS LOOK POISED TO RELOAD, NOT REBUILD IN 2009.
THE TRIBE WILL TAKE THE FIELD IN 2009 WITH THE CORE OF THEIR SUPPORTING CAST FROM THE 2008 CAMPAIGN. HOWEVER, THE TRIBE DID LOSE SOME KEY PLAYERS, BUT SOMEHOW MANAGED TO FILL THE HOLES IN NICELY. "I CAN HONESTLY SAY OUR TEAM IS BETTER IN EVERY ASPECT OF THE GAME THIS YEAR IN COMPARISON TO 2008 SQUAD AND THAT INCLUDES OUR PITCHING STAFF WHERE WE LOST TWO STARTERS. OUR TWO NEW ARMS ARE THE CREAM OF THE CROP AND RUMOR IS, MABL ACE BRYAN MYERS IS HEALTHY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TWO YEARS AND HE'S THINKING ABOUT RETURNING TO THE TRIBE." SAID MANAGER GRANT CROWE.
