Team Rules and Information.

Absolutely no cell phones while games or practices are in progress. No exceptions. This includes pre-game warm ups and if you are not in the playing line up. If I see them I will take them away until the end of the game.

Do not wear shortsto practices...ever. This is a safety issue. Furthermore, if we are working on baserunning or play an inter-squad game you will be sliding.

Please arrive at all a games 45 minutes early. In saying arriving 45 minutes early, this means arrive and ready to play, not getting there 45 minutes early, then take 20 minutes to change into your uniform. For games the starting line up will be decided 45 minutes prior to the start of the game. If there are less than 9 players at that time, the first 9 players at the game will start the game. Keep in mind with the limited substitutions if you don't start the game you likely won't get much more than 3 innings of play.

If you are not a regular starter, in a position you don't like or in a lower spot in the batting order and want to move, my rule is: Work your way out of it. If a player performs poorly, they will stay in that position until they prove to me that they are good enough and put in the effort to get moved to a 'better' position. I also don't reward players that don't hussle. If you are not in the starting line up on a regular basis, get involved in the game. Volunteer to get foul balls, warm up players. Show me you want to play and you will play.

Errors: There are 2 types of errors, Errors of commission and errors of ommision. Errors of commision are if you make an error due to an aggressive attempt at making something happen. Example: You hit a long single and try to stretch it into a double and get out. You made an attempt to be aggressive, therefore you won't be penalized for that type of error. Errors of ommission are basically an ommission of judgement or will. Example: If you get lazy on a ground ball and don't catch it, that's an ommission of judgement and those errors will have a penalty.

Bench Organization:
First Basemen, Center Fielder, and the outfielder on the side closest to our bench (IE: if our bench is the first base side this applies to the right fielder, other side is Left fielder): When you come off the field, get a ball and put it in your glove, so you have it ready when you go out to the field quickly.

When you are batting: Place your hat on top of your glove on the bench and make sure someone knows where it is. If you are left on base or the in the last play, give your helmet to the base coach and a player can bring your glove and hat to you...just like they do in the pros. This is to speed up the game and allow for more warmup time, not get you out of hussling, so if players are searching around for your glove and hat we will not continue this.

If you are not in the playing line-up, you still must be involved in the game. Again, if you want to play, get involved. Players on the bench have the following duties:
-catch for the coach during the pre-game warm-up
-warm up the pitcher if the catcher isn't ready
-retrieve foul balls along our side of the diamond
-keep a pitch count on our pitcher
-warm up the outfielder
-warm up the releif pitcher in bullpen
-watch for the opposing teams signs and try to steal them
-keep track of the opposing teams line up (IE batting order, what each player does)
-watch the opposing team/pitcher for any tip offs (when he's picking off, when he's throwing an offspeed pitch, etc) when we have runners on base (this goes for any players that are on the bench, whether in the line up or not)

Packing the equipment bag. The players use the equipment so the players pack the equipment at the end of the games and practices. This is not the job of the coaches.
