Posted Jul 2/15 - Red Sox walk to 16-3 win
Red Sox score early and often against the Orioles in 16-3 win Wednesday night. Sox players pounded out ten hits to go along with the seventeen walks and three hit batters. ( Eddie is doing just fine after getting drilled on the wrist and paying a visit to the doctor. ) As positive as the night was for the kids getting on base an old habit reappeared. As a team we had fourteen strikeouts, nine of those were called third strikes. That is one area we need to improve upon as we head into the tail end of the season and playoffs. The Orioles were never able to get their own bats going as Lilly was more pitcher than they could handle. She pitched four scoreless innings allowing only one hit. Jonah came to work the fifth and sixth and did a great job himself, allowing one run on on one hit.
Next up is a 7:45 game against the White Sox on Monday night at Ballpark 2. No practice on Sunday. I took it off the schedule. I will add a practice or two towards playoff time.
Game notes;
Lilly: 3-3, 1-HR, 4-RBI, 5-runs, 2-BB
Erick: 2-3, 1-RBI, 1-run
Simon 3-3, 2-RBI, 2-runs
Eddie 1-1, 1-RBI, 1-run
Jonah 1-3, 3-RBI, 2-runs

Posted Jun 23/15 - Red Sox fight back to earn 7-4 win.
Red Sox get past a tough Pirates team 7-4. Going into this game we knew we would be facing some good pitching and in return need to pitch a good game ourselves.  What we didn't expect was the strike zone to be the size of a cereal box. The matchup of pitchers was as expected minus a dozen or so walks that should have been called strikeouts. The tight strike zone was a big part in Jonah needing forty pitches to get through the first inning. Aside from the walks he pitched just fine, allowing only one hit and two runs in the first. Down two the sox hitters came to bat and quickly tied the game on two bases loaded walks issued to Erick and Isaiah. The sox missed a great chance to score a few more when they stranded the bases loaded. The second inning went by without much fight as Jonah struck out all three batters and the Pirates pitcher put down our side in order on three called third strikes. ( maybe that strike zone wasn't so small? ) Owen came on to pitch the next three frames and did a great job!  He allowed two runs on only one hit. In the bottom of the third after the Pirates took the lead the Red Sox sticks got to work. Isaiah (Smalls) and Jonah got on base via the walk and and didn't stay on base long as Dalton ripped a shot to left for a tripple tying the game at four. After Lilly got a free pass and Owen drove a run in with a single, Erick put the ball in play and drove in Lilly. Diego would knock in the final run of the game with a grounder to first scoring Erick from third. That ended all the scoring for the game as Owen shut down the Pirates in the fourth and fifth and Lilly closed it out with a three up three down sixth. A very big win for our kids and it shows they know how to fight back when they are down.
Next up is the White Sox at 5:30 on Wednesday at Wilson 3.
Game notes;
Dalton 2-3, 1-tripple, 2-RBI, 2-runs
Lilly 1-2, 2-runs
Owen 1-2, 1-RBI, 1-run
David 1-2

Posted Jun 11/15 - A Giant Spark
Red Sox brush off sluggish start to beat the Giants 7-2 at Ball Park 3 on Wednesday night. After giving up two runs, (one earned) on two hits and an error in the first inning, Lilly regrouped and shut down the Giants the next two frames. It was lucky for the Sox that the pitching tightened up because the kids in red and blue wouldn't collect their first hit until the bottom of the fourth inning. Anthony delivered not only the Sox first hit but he provided the spark that finally ignited his teammates. Our kids would score their first run in the fourth and take the lead in the fifth on Simon's two run single. Red Sox sluggers would tac on four insurance runs in the sixth with Dalton driving in Anthony and Jonah with a big triple to left center. Lilly and Jonah added run scoring singles of their own in the sixth. The four insurance runs would not be needed though as the Red Sox pitchers did not allow another hit after the first inning. Jonah pitched a great fourth through sixth and Owen struck out the only three batters he faced to close out the game.
Next up for the Red Sox are the surging Cardinals at 5:30 on Wed, June 17 Wilson 2.
Game notes;
Anthony: 2-2, 2-runs
Dalton: 1-2, 1-triple, 2-RBI, 1-run, 1-BB
Jonah: 1-2, 1-RBI, 1-run
Simon: 1-2, 1-single, 2-RBI
Lilly: 1-3, 1-single, 1-RBI
Diego: 1-2, 1-run
Isaiah L.: 1-2, 1-double

Posted May 28/15 - Sox Top the Yanks
Red Sox shake off the rust and hand the previously unbeaten Yankees their first loss of the season. The seven day layoff showed in the lack of offense as the Sox could only manage to plate six runs to the Yanks two. The pitchers kept the team in the game until the bats could get going. Lilly got the start and threw three solid innings allowing just one run on two hits. Jonah came on in relief and over powered the Yankee batters, allowing just a harmless run in the seventh frame to close out the first real test of the year. The Red Sox batters could only muster six hits with Jonah being the lone player to collect more than one. That's not to say the kids didn't have some clutch at-bats as Lilly tied the game in the first when she drove in Dalton with a hard ground ball out to the second basemen. David gave the Sox their first lead of the game in the third with an RBI groundout. The game stayed at 2-1 until the kids put up a four run fifth. Leading the way with a two run triple was Simon, followed by an RBI single by Isaiah L. Eddie was next to bat and crushed the ball for a three bagger of his own, scoring Isaiah.  The defense continued their stellar play with Owen making two spectacular plays, first by starting a 3-6 double play in the fourth and then robbing a Yankee batter of a hit with a great catch in the seventh.
Next up for the Sox is another tough team as we face the 3-1 Brewers Saturday morning at 10:45. Wilson 4.
Game notes;
Jonah 2-3, 1-double
Dalton 1-3, 1- run
Simon 1-2, 1- triple, 2-RBI, 1- run
Isaiah L. 1-1, 1- RBI, 2- runs
Eddie 1-1, 1- triple, 1-RBI, 1- HBP

Posted May 22/15 - Good Luck Kids
Just wanted to say "good luck" to a couple Red Sox kids. Isaiah Longoria will be playing on Wilson Park's U9 tournament team as a representative of the Red Sox at the Boss tournament in Mequon on Saturday. To add a little twist to Isaiah's big weekend representing Wilson Park, and our team, he has a chance to play against his cousin and Red Sox teammate Diego Navarro as he is a player on the host Boss team.Their potential matchup all depends on how their teams fair in the two early round games. Good luck to both of you!

Posted May 21/15 - Good Play Continues
The Red Sox toss second straight no-hitter in 17-0 win over the Athletics. Jonah and Dalton split the first four innings of work on the hill with Lilly then Simon in his first A.L. Appearance finishing off the game. Not to be outdone dy the pitchers, the Red Sox sluggers had an equally good game. All twelve players reached base at least two times to go with 5 extra base hits. Lilly hit her second HR of the season to go with the doubles that her and David hit. Jonah and Isaiah each added a three bagger to the teams collection of thirteen hits. The biggest surprise to the game was the excellent defense the kids played after a less than stellar infield practice before the game.
Next up; The Red Sox will take on the 3-0 Yankees in what promises to be our toughest challenge to date. Wed, May 27, 5:30 Ball Park 1.
Game notes;
Jonah 3-4, 2 RBI, 3 runs
Lilly 3-4, 4 RBI, 2 runs
Simon 2-3, 1 RBI, 1 run
Isaiah L. 1-3, 4 RBI, 1 run
Isaiah G-A, 4 walks

Posted May 20/15 - Red Sox no hit Dodgers
The quickest way to sum up this game is to say a young Dodgers team was over matched by a veteran Red Sox team 18-0.  Four Sox pitchers combined to throw a no hitter. Owen and Erick pitched the first three inning with Diego and Isaiah making their A.L. debuts on the hill closing out the final three frames. The kids were as dominate at the plate as they were from the mound. Five Red Sox players had multi hit games with Jonah, Dalton, Erick and Diego leading the way with three hits apiece. Owen added two of his own. Not to be left out of the fun, Lilly, Simon, Isaiah L. Got on base with hits as did David, smacking his first base hit as an American League player. Congrats kid!
Next up; Wednsday May 20, 5:30 at Ball Park 1 vs. Athletics
Game notes:
Jonah 3-4, 2 triples, 3 runs, 1 rbi
Dalton 3-3, 1 double, 4 rbi, 4 runs

Posted May 14/15 - A Red Sox Gem
After more than six weeks of spring practice it sure felt good to get the season started. The kids showed they were focused and ready to play. The Red Sox struck quickly in the first when Lilly drove in Jonah for the first run of the game. That duo would go on to torment the Phillies at the plate the rest of the game combining for 6 runs scored and 7 RBI, including a grand slam by Lilly. Owen got in on fun with two hits of his own. The two Isaiah's played a big part in our run production with Isaiah Longoria driving in two with a big single in the seventh and Isaiah Gallegos-Asik starting two big rallies by working the pitchers for two lead off walks. As good as the Sox were at the plate they were even better on the mound. Lilly showed why she was chosen to be the opening day starter with a dominant performance from the hill. In her three innings of work she only allowed one bloop single that fell just out of the reach of our shortstop and only got to a three ball count once. The next three pitchers kept up the pace that Lilly started as Jonah, Owen and Dalton finished off the next four frames with a 12 up 12 down showing. Add that all up and it totals just one base runner for the Phillies in seven innings and a 10-0 win for the Red Sox. Great game kids!
Next up; Friday May 15 vs. the Dodgers at Ball Park 3, 5:30. Please have the kids at the field at 4:30 for pregame BP.
Game notes;
Red Sox pitchers struck out 17 of 22 batters
Jonah- 4-4, 1 double, 4 runs, 3 sb
Lilly- 3-4, 1 hr, 7 rbi, 2 runs
Owen- 2-3, 1 run, 2 sb
Isaiah L. 1-3, 2 rbi, 2 sb
