| Posted Jul 27/09 - Stuart Channel Wins Vancouver Island Championship |
| Sunday afternoon at Doc Lewis Park in Chemainus, The Stuart Channel All Star team defeated Oceanside with a score of 5-3. The local team went ahead by 4 runs in the first inning, and kept the lead for the rest of the game. Great defensive plays by the Chemainus/Ladysmith youngsters denied Oceanside, who had won the coin toss for Home advantage, a chance to answer this early lead. Stuart Channel Pitcher, Josh Anderson allowed only one hit in the first 3 innings and was supported by great efforts from Jamie Roberts, Tyler Knelson and Jordan Bennett from the mound to clinch the Island Championship in a fast paced and well fought battle. The whole team played well and appeared ready to head to the Provincials this coming weekend as a well oiled machine. A great conclusion to a well hosted zone playoff, Thank you to the Coaches, Parents and Executive for their hard work! |
