Countdown to CNOBF 2010 Tournament
(Jul 30/10)

Burnaby is Hosting the 2010 CNOBF Championship Tournament

On behalf of the Metro Vancouver Organizing Committee (MVOC) for the 18th annual Canadian Championships in 2010, we’d like to welcome all players, managers and teams to the official website for the tournament.

The MVOC is made up of players, managers and executive from the two main men’s baseball leagues operating in the metro Vancouver area – Lower Mainland Baseball Association (LMBA) and the Poco Men’s Baseball League (PMBL). We are all working hard behind the scenes trying to ensure that everything is in place so that your trip out to the West Coast is a great one.

This website is under construction and changes as we finalize more details with sponsors and other related components. Please browse through it and make note of the specifics regarding the tournament.

Familiarize yourself with the tournament rules, important registration dates and deadlines. No tournament of this stature can get by without sponsorship and we are continually looking for more community partners to connect with. Please check out our sponsors and the links to their businesses as we add them to this site.

Any tournament questions or concerns can be directed to either of the tournaments co-chairs;

2010 CNOBF Championships

Now that the CNOBF Executive has awarded the 2010 Canadian Championship Tournament to the West Coast, the challenge of organizing the details is now under way.

Championship Divisions - 35+, 44+, 50+

 Tournament Dates - July 30 - August 2, 2010

  Locations - New Westminster (Queen's Park - Tournament Centre)

                   - Burnaby (Robert Burnaby Park and Central Park)

                   - Tri Cities (Blue Mountain, Mundy, Heritage Woods, Thompson)

                   - Surrey (South Surrey Athletic Park)

The host bid committee of Matthew Coyne (Tourism Burnaby), Dan Taylor (Lower Mainland Baseball Association), and Howie Snyder and Mike Willcox (POCO Men's Baseball League) will  be drawing on the two leagues for volunteers to become involved in pre-tournament tasks as well as the actual running of the tournament.  In addition to securing the necessary manpower to make the tournament a success, the committee will be networking the two leagues for contacts to the business community for sponsorship.

The committee will be looking to involve the local community in supporting the tournament.  Baseball associations, local business establishments, and interested individuals are welcome to contact us if they would like to become part of our 2010 tournament.

While several commercial contacts have been made by the host committee, it is hoped to network the 700 members in both the LMBA and POCO leagues for sources of manpower and sponsorship support.  Teams planning to enter the tournament will be expected to provide committee volunteers and other forms of support.  This will enable them to focus on playing when the tournament is taking place.  Once the tournament commences it is anticipated that volunteers from both leagues will supply the necessary help to run the games, maintain fields, and fill various other organizational roles.

Please check our Links function for information on the Canadian National Oldtimers Baseball Federation and other groups associated with the 2010 tournament.  Please use our Contacts function for information about the event or to let us know how you can become involved.  Teams planning to travel are invited to check out our Hotels Section as the committee has arranged tournament rates at a range of Burnaby hotels close to playing facilities and neighbourhood services.
