The Hawks Baseball Organization

The Las Vegas Hawks compete in an adult wood bat baseball league known as the (American Baseball Union), as well as other tournaments, and practice games. Manager/Player Miles Stephens formed the Hawks in January of 2009 and is looking to build a competitive baseball team to play the game right, win, and have fun. The Hawks consist of players who come from all over the United States who have high school, and even college experience. We have the skill to win the championship, if we play to our potential.

June 7th, 2009 - Game 12 Vs. Boulder Dodgers (T 8-8)
The Hawks came out wanting to try new things knowing that they have already clinched a spot in the playoffs this season. Our lineup was shuffled around and we didnt pitch any of our normal starters, and were still able to come out with a tie in this game. I liked what I saw from our pitchers when they were throwing strikes, but most of our pitchers have had a problem doing that this season. If we stay more consistant through the playoffs we will be a tough team to beat.

May 31st, 2009 - Game 11 Vs. Mustangs (L 16-0)
Worst game ever played by the Hawks. Mustangs once again brought out new players to play against us and once again we lost to them. There is nothing to really say besides we played like crap and got spanked. The mustangs had bats and pitching and the Hawks did not. We look forward to facing them in the playoffs if we get the chance so we can get another crack at them.

May 17th, 2009 - Game 10 Vs. Raptors (W 2-1)
Pitchers Duel!!! Great game for both teams but the Hawks definitely wanted this one more and proved it by staying pumped up throughout the entire game. Even though we had a couple of errors in the first to give the Raptors their only run we never let it get to us.  Miles kept the Raptors bats at bay all day only giving up 2 hits throughout the 8 innings he pitched with no earned runs and 11 strikeouts. We had alot team chemistry to help us get the win today. Jesse Rimmer came up clutch in his first game back with the walk off RBI single in the bottom of the 9th to seal the deal. Great game, and Im proud of everyone today for staying in the game and never giving up.

May 3rd, 2009 - Game 9 Vs. LV Dodgers (W 13-4)
The Hawks bounce back after two straight losses and come up with a huge win. Great Game all around for the Hawks today. Our hitting was great 1-10 and our pitching finally showed up ready to play. The first inning was all that the Hawks would need in this one scoring 10 runs right off the bat. Joel Torres had a great day going 3-4 with a homerun (1) and 3 RBI's and did a fantastic job behind the plate filling in for Jesse Rimmer. Lets build on this win now and focus on playing hard for the remainder of the season. The finish line isn't too far away and it would be nice to be at the top when we cross it. We have to keep working hard and showing up hungry to every game if we really want this.

April 26th, 2009 - Game 8 Vs. Showboats (L 20-6)
Errors and Walks.....the 2 worst things you can possibly do on defense and we had PLENTY of both of those while getting blown out by the Showboats. The Hawks jumped out early in the first inning scoring a couple runs quickly then scoring another run in each of the next 2 innings taking a 4 to 0 lead heading to the 4th inning. Its was all downhill from there! After starting the inning rough Reece had a shoulder injury forcing him out of the game. Three other pitchers were brought in to try and finish off the inning before the game got out of hand, but had no sucess. None of the Hawks pitchers could seem to find the zone tonight and it resulted in 20 walks. We are 0-3 when our pitching isnt "good" and it seems that when the Hawks pitching isnt on we have no shot at winning games. That needs to change if we want to be a championship caliber team because pitching can only take a team so far.....the offense eventually has to step up when the pitching is bad and vice versa. Hopefully we can end this bad streak of baseball we are playing and get back on the winning track. It shouldnt be hard with the amount of talent we have on our roster. I will tell you one thing though the Hawks are not going to be a team your going to want to meet in the playoffs.........I GUARANTEE YOU THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

April 6th, 2009 (NEWS)
The Hawks get their new home jerseys.

April 19th, 2009 - Game 7 Hawks Vs. Stars (L 5-7)
Miles Stephens had the start on the mound and had his worst game so far this season. Throwing 2 innings walking 5 batters while giving up 4 runs. The Hawks battled back hitting the ball extremely well throughout the game, and Reece coming in and shutting the Stars down for 4 innings. In the 7th inning the Stars had 3 bloopers in a row fall in for base hits and all of them eventually scored. Our hitting was outstanding only striking out 4 times and getting 12 base hits, but the starting pitching was atrocious. Both of the Hawks losses this season could have easily been wins and second time around I think they will be, but its all part of being a brand new team and learning how to play the game and gelling together.

April 5th, 2009 - Game 6 Hawks Vs. Spartans (W 5-1)
The Hawks came out strong in the first inning jumping on the spartans for 2 runs and never looked back. Reece Umatum was lights out once again pitching a complete game which would of been a shutout if not for errors striking out 14 and only surrendering 3 hits. The bats were lively and the baserunning was outstanding taking advantage of every mistake made by the Spartans. The Hawks are now starting to become more of a balanced team. While the pitching is still the Hawks strongpoint, their bats seem to be coming around and proving that they can also be a force.

March 29th, 2009 - Game 5 Hawks Vs. Boulder Dodgers (W 11-3)
The Hawks bounced back after a tough loss last week and defeat a very good Boulder Dodgers team. The Hawks hit the ball better then they have all season and the pitching was very solid. There was very good team chemistry in the dugout and everyone seemed to be having a good time.

March 24th, 2009 (NEWS)
Mike Johns follows Chris G. and he quits the Hawks.

March 22nd, 2009 - Game 4 Hawks Vs. Mustangs (L 4-8)
The Hawks came out with big heads after starting the season 3-0 and it got the best of them. The Mustangs came out hungry and us Hawks were their food. Right off the bat the hawks took the lead with a 2 run homerun by Miles Stephens (1) but fell apart right after. The Hawks bats looked dead and tired as we struck out 20 times and only got 4 hits throughout the entire game. Reece finally hit his groove going into the 5th inning after struggling to find the plate early in the game but it was alittle too late as most of the damage had already been dealt. The Mustangs took advantage of our sloppy play and rolled over us fairly easy to give us our first loss of the season. Hopefully this will hit us hard and bring us to reality that we can and will be beaten if we dont show up hungry to every game.

March 15th, 2009 - Game 3 Hawks Vs. Raptors (W 15-7)
The Hawks continue to roll this spring with their 3rd consecutive win in season play. The Hawks bats finally broke out scoring 15 runs in only 6 innings of play and 14 of them coming in one inning. Miles Stephens had himself a day at the plate going 4-4 with a pair of doubles and singles and driving in 3 runs. Jesse Rimmer hit a homerun for the second game in a row, and Mike Johns also homered. The Hawks are one of the two undefeated teams in the Elite Division, but they will be tested next Sunday when they meet up with the defending champions the Mustangs.

March 13th, 2009 (NEWS)
Chris Gschwender is unhappy with his role with the Hawks and quits the team.

March 9th, 2009 - Game 2 Hawks Vs. LV Dodgers (W 9-4)
Week 2 for the Hawks, and again they show that they are the team to beat. Hawks show no worry as they came out strong behind Reece Umatum as he was nearly perfect in his first start of the season striking out 12 in 6 innings of work. Hawks also showed some more pop in their bats with 3 home runs in an 8 inning game off of a couple crafty leftys pitching.

March 1st, 2009 - Game 1 Hawks Vs. Showboats (W 6-2)
Hawks get their first win in franchise history against their heated rivals "The Showboats". Once again pitching was the Hawks strength as they held one of the leagues top offenses to only 2 runs. After 3 innings of struggling at the plate our bats finally heated up after Danny Camelat hit the first ever homerun by a hawk in the 4th inning.
