Tryouts for the 2011 AA West Kootenay Diamondbacks will be held at Butler Park in Trail
on Friday May 6th - 6pm-8pm, Saturday May 7th 1pm-5pm, and Sunday May 8th 9am-12pm
All West Kootenay players born from 1994-1996 are encouraged to come. |
The Diamondbacks won 2 of 3 games this past weekend defeating Lakeside 9-1 on Saturday before losing to Gonzaga Prep 3-2 in extra innings and then beating previously undefeated Shadle Park 10-9.
The D'Backs had strong pitching on Saturday vs. Lakeside with Jordan Roblin going the distance for the complete game victory. The offense had 11 hits with Dallas Calvin collecting 4 hits including 2 doubles and a home run and 3 RBI's. Scott Davidson had 2 hits (1 double) and 2 RBI's, Jaryd Roblin had 2 singles and an RBI, Ryan Giesler had 1 single (2 RBI's), Adam Colussi had 1 single (1 RBI), and Jordan Roblin had one single. There was also 8 stolen bases for the D'Backs.
The first game on Sunday vs. Gonzaga Prep turned into a pitchers duel that saw Dallas Calvin pitch a complete game that included one extra inning. Calvin gave up just 3 hits, 5 strike outs and no walks but ended up losing in the 8th. Final score was 3-2 for Gonzaga Prep. Offense for the D'Backs included singles for Davidson and Colussi and a double for Calvin.
It was a quick turnaround against undefeated Shadle Park in the second game on Sunday. Chris Whyte got the start and went 4 innings allowing 4 runs, 3 strike outs, and 2 walks before Jordan Roblin, Dallas Calvin, and finally Jaryd Roblin pitched in relief. The offense was paced by Adam Colussi with 2 singles and a double, Brandon Campbell with 2 singles, Dyllon Nevakshonoff with a single and a double, Scott Davidson with 2 singles, Chris Whyte, Dallas Calvin, Ryan Giesler, and Mitch Crantz added singles. |
The West Kootenay Diamondbacks kicked off the 2010 American Legion season with a 12-6 victory over the Kettle Falls Bulldogs in Kettle Falls.
Jaryd Roblin pitched 6 strong innings striking out 4 and walking just one batter. Dallas Calvin came on in relief in the 7th inning and struck out the side.
Diamondbacks played strong defense commiting NO errors highlighted by a great relay by Dyllon Nevakshonoff and Chris Whyte to catcher Scott Davidson to gun down a potential Kettle Falls base runner at the plate. Davidson also picked a runner off at first and did a great job of blocking balls. Adam Colussi had several great catches in center field and Chris Whyte was strong at shortstop.
On the bats there were 8 hits and 3 perfect squeeze bunts. Dallas Calvin had 3 hits including a double and 2 RBI and a walk, Chris Whyte had 2 doubles 4 RBI and reached base in all 5 of his plate appearances. Singles by Jordan Roblin, Scott Davidson, and Mitch Crantz rounded out the offense. Davidson, Tanner Rotschy, and Jordan Roblin all executed perfect squeeze bunts to bring in 3 runs. Diamondback hitters only struck out 3 times in the game. |
