The Malcolm Legion Juniors team only played a double header against Lincoln Pius X last week after rain and lightning cancelled their other games. The junior’s games against Sutton, Pleasant Dale and Syracuse were all cancelled because of bad weather.

The juniors lost to Lincoln Pius X, 6-1 and 11-4, in a double header on June 23.  “It was one of those games where we came out playing good defense but we made a few mental mistakes,” Head Coach TJ Kaiser said. “That was really the only thing that took us out of the games.” Kaiser said overall, his team played really well. “Mentally, we weren’t in it and it took us out of the game,” he said. “Physically we played very well. I was really proud of the boys.” Kaiser said it showed the players that they have the talent to hang with a team like Pius X.

The Malcolm Legion Juniors team continues to find success in their games this season. The juniors defeated York 12-1 on June 29. Tyler Webster started pitching and Trever Caroll came in to finish. “Both did a great job,” Head Coach TJ Kaiser said. Kaiser said his team did an all-around great job both defensively and offensively. We came out ready to go, played hard and that showed in the way we played,” he said. Webster and Ty Sackett both went 3-3 and Dakota Pitts was 2-2. Overall the team had nine hits and seven walks.

The Juniors then defeated Tri County, 9-3, on July 1. Sackett started pitching and Kaiser said he did a great job. The Juniors again had nine hits and eight walks. “This was a game we had to stay focused in, because we had already played Tri County twice at the begining of the year. It was a tough game but we just kept pushing forward and pulled away in the last few innings,” Kaiser said.

On July 2, the Juniors defeated Pleasant Dale in a 5-1 finish. Zach Klenke started pitching and Webster closed the game. “Both did a great job,” Kaiser said. He said it was another tough game but they played great defense. “With only four hits, which all came at the right times, due to the boys being selective at the plate drawing nine walks,” Kaiser said. “I am very proud of the way the boys played this week. We are doing a great job as a team.”

The Juniors next host Adams July 6 at 5:30 p.m. and Elmwood July 8 at 5:30 p.m. They play at Wilber July 9 at 2 p.m. They host Waverly July 11 at 5:30 p..m.
