TRIBE DISBAND AFTER 2 SEASONS

The Tri City Indians will not be returning for a 2011 season.  The team was started 2 years ago by Kyle Williams under the name Tri City Indians Alumni.  Originally the team was only open to alumni of the Tri City Indians Midget AAA program.  However, after one season the roster was opened up to any interested players.   After a disappointing 2010 season in the standings and no one stepping up to take over the GM role, the team was forced to disband on October 3rd.  The Tribe end their LMBA career with a 8 - 23 regular season record and a 0 - 2 playoff record.

A special thanks to Kyle Williams for starting the team 2 years ago and taking care of all the behind the scenes responsibilities, and thank you to Joey McAuley for handling coaching duties this past season.  Best of luck to all Indians players in your future baseball endeavors.

TRIBE COMPLETE 2010 CAMPAIGN WITH PLAYOFF LOSS

The Tribe looked to advance to the playoffs with a win over the Burnaby Brewers in a "play-in" game Sunday at Robert Burnaby.  Things got off to a shaky start when errors allowed the Brewers to score twice in the first inning.  Starter Alexiou, who struck out 15 Brewers in his previous start against them, pitched 3 innings and left the game down 7 - 0 while allowing only 1 hit.  The damage was done as the Tribe could only score one run over 9 innings to lose 12 - 1.  White had a great outing on the mound allowing only 2 runs over 4 innings.  McAuley scored the Tribe's only run the 6th inning when he was sacrificed home on a groundball from White.

TRIBE COMPLETE REGULAR SEASON WITH LOSS TO COQUITLAM

The Tribe played the Coquitlam Cardinals on Saturday to finish off their regular season.  Drozdiak improved his ERA by throwing 3 shutout innings while going 2 for 4 at the plate.  The 9th inning saw the Tribe's only 2 runs of the game.  Taylor lead off the inning with one of his 2 hits on the day.  He would later score on a wild pitch.  Alexiou also scored that inning after getting on base with a single when McAuley hit in to a ground ball out.  A play-in game on Sunday will determine whether the Tribe advance to the playoffs.

TRIBE FORFEIT GAME IN CHILLIWACK

7 players made the trip out to Chilliwack Sunday morning to find that 3 of their teammates who were expected at the game did not make the trip.  In a franchise first, the Tribe were forced to forfeit the game to Chilliwack.  Hats off to the 7 players who made the drive out and to Chilliwack and the umpiring crew for hosting a 7 inning exhibition game in place of the scheduled league game.  The Tribe play their final regular season game next Saturday at home versus the Cardinals.

TRIBE COMPLETE FIRST LEAGUE WIN WITH SPLIT AGAINST BREWERS

The Tribe are proud to announce that they have secured their first league win of the season after a Sunday doubleheader vs the Brewers at Mundy Park.

The first game was a back and forth affair with the Brewers finishing on top by a score of 7 - 5.  With the score tied 5 - 5 in the 7th inning the Tribe gave up 2 runs and were unable to get them back in the bottom half.  Before that the Tribe saw good games at the plate by both Newton (1B, BB, HBP) and Davy (1B, 1B).  Drozdiak had a career outing on the mound, retiring 9 batters in a row before becoming the losing pitcher when an inherited runner scored in the 7th.

Game 2 saw Alexiou take the mound.  The Tribe scored 1 run in the top of the 1st on a pass ball.  Alexiou then took control, completing the first 7 outs of the game by strikeout.  In the 4th, the Tribe scored 2 more runs on a double by Drozdiak and an RBI groundout from Hingston.  This is all the runs the Tribe would need as Alexiou would throw a complete game allowing only 1 run on 2 hits, striking out a near career record of 15.

TRIBE CELEBRATE WIN!

The Tribe broke the streak Tuesday night, completing a 10 - 3 win over the Poco Mens All-Star team at Thompson Park to improve their overall season record to 1 - 12.  Alexiou got the start, throwing 3 innings while allowing only 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 5.  Drozdiak then made quick work of the 4th inning, retiring the side in order.  With the score 4 - 3 in favour of the Tribe, the 6th inning saw 4 men cross the plate.  Another 2 runs were scored in the 7th.  Hickson, Drozdiak and Hicks had standout games at the plate.  Hickson went 3 - 3 with a triple, Drozdiak went 2 - 4 with two doubles and Hicks had 3 RBI's.  The Tribe have played 2 solid games in a row and will take that momentum in to the weekend for a doubleheader vs. the Brewers at Mundy.

TOUGH LOSS AT QUEENS PARK

The Tribe played their most solid game of the year Sunday evening at Queens Park in New West settling for a 3-2 loss.  Newton threw 5 terrific innings, allowing only 2 runs on 3 hits.  Malyuk and Madge both threw an inning allowing no runs.  The Tribe got on the board in the 6th when Davy led off with a walk following by a single by White.  Fitz sacrificed them over and with runners on 2nd and 3rd, both Washburn and Madge showed great patience at the plate drawing two walks and scoring a run.  In the 8th the Tribe would tie the game when Davy ripped a double to the gap with 2 out.  White then singled him home.  New West put together a solid effort in the bottom of the 9th when they scored the winning run on a single with a runner on 2nd and 2 out.  The Tribe continue to improve their play with each game.  Next, the Tribe play an exhibition game against the Poco Mens All-Star Team, followed by a much anticipated double header at Mundy on Sunday.

TRIBE BETTER THEIR TEAM AVG BY 7 POINTS IN LOSS TO NEWTON

The Tribe's bats came alive on Sunday (relative to previously played games) as 8 hits were scattered throughout the game and 2 runs scored.  Our pitchers did their best to keep us in the game but some untimely errors in the field allowed the game to get out of reach early.  Drozdiak made his debut on the mound (the 11th Tribe player to see the mound this season) and got 2 strikeouts in just 1 inning of work while going 2 for 4 at the plate.  Madge also had a good game at the plate, walking 3 times and scoring a run.  The Tribe were not without opportunities as 7 runners were stranded in scoring position.

TRIBE ENJOY THEIR FIRST LEAD OF THE SEASON

For 2 innings the Tribe were protecting their first lead of the season, a 1 - 0 gain on their Aldergrove opponents.  In the first inning Alexiou, second up to bat, drew a walk and swiftly stole 2nd base.  Skank then singled him home.  Final score: 6 - 1 Aldergrove.  Enjoy the Canada Day long weekend!

TRIBE HAVE A QUALITY GAME AT MUNDY

Building on their previous outing vs Vancouver, the Tribe continued to display their strengths at Mundy on Saturday night against the Burnaby Yankees.  Four pitchers saw innings this night.  White threw 4 terrific innings, allowing only 2 runs (his first 2 runs allowed all season).  Davy followed with 3 innings striking out 3 and allowing only 1 run.  Mayluk had the deuce working, striking out 2 in only 1 innings work.  Alexiou then came in to finish the game with 2 strikeouts and a pickoff at 1B.  However the Tribe bats were not able to put together any runs and the final score was 3-0.  No errors were made on the field by the Indians.

TRIBE DROP A WELL PLAYED GAME AT MUNDY

Tuesday night at Mundy came with alot of positives and some negatives as the Tribe hosted Vancouver for a make-up game.  The Tribe still struggled with stranding baserunners, as 10 runner were left-on-base.  However, the pitching of Newton, Fitzgerald and White kept the game within reach.  Vancouver scored their 6 runs in only two innings and were kept off the board for the final 4 innings of the game.  The Tribe were able to get a run across in the 7th after Washburn singled home White after he doubled to right field.  In the bottom of the 9th one more run was scored on an RBI by Davy, scoring Alexiou from 3rd.  The Tribe committed zero errors on the field and White still maintains a 0.00 ERA.  On a negative note, M. Malyuk suffered a knee injury while chasing down a ball in left field.  A. Malyuk, not to be outdone by his brother, then suffered an injury of his own when he collided with a runner while making a play at first.  We hope to see both Malyuks healthy and back in the lineup on Saturday.

TRIBE SCORE 4 RUNS AGAINST RICHMOND

The Tribe put in a decent outing at Mundy Park Saturday night against the Richmond A's.  Hicks pitched 5 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits.  The double play got Hicks out of a bases loaded jam twice showcases the Tribe's often excellent defense.  With the score 9 - 0 in the 8th inning the Tribe's bats finally woke up for the first time in 3 games.  Washburn started things off with a walk followed by William's first hit in 14 years (the ball was signed and will be framed on his wall).  Littzen sacrificed the runners over which set up an RBI single by Newton and Davy.  Two more runs scored on a pass ball and sac from Drozdiak.  The game was called due to the time limit rule before the 9th inning.  The Tribe now look to carry the momentum to the field on Tuesday when they play a make-up game vs. Vancouver.

DEFENDING CHAMPS BLANK TRIBE

The Tribe had 3 hits on their way to a 9 - 0 loss against the South Delta Padres.  With the bats still silent, the pitchers did their best to keep their team in the game.  Fitzgerald, in his first start of the season, didn't allow a run until the 3rd inning and struck out 4.  White also had a strong outing on the mound allowing only 2 baserunners in two innings.  Hingston had a breakout game at the plate going 2-3.

TRIBE DROP 4TH STRAIGHT TO NEW WEST

The usually solid defense of the Tribe committed 12 errors on the field Sunday while the bats remained quiet all night.  Hicks threw 4 solid innings, not allowing a hit until the 4th inning and striking out 6.  New West broke the game open in the 5th, scoring 4 runs on only 3 hits.  McAuley saw his first action on the mound in the 8th facing 5 batters and allowing no hits while M. Malyuk saw his second inning on the mound striking out 2 and allowing only 1 unearned run.

ANOTHER CLOSE GAME IN HOME OPENER

The Indians played their home opener vs. the Maple Ridge Jerks on Saturday at beautiful Mundy Park, home to the majority of mosquitoes in the Tri Cities.  The Tribe had stellar pitching performances by Newton, Hicks, A. Malyuk, White and M. Malyuk.  Newton, who started the game, struck out 4 and allowed 1 earned run in a terrific performance.  Hicks came in in relief and allowed 2 runs while striking out 4 over 3 innings.  Making their debuts on the mound, White and M. Malyuk combined for zero runs allowed.  The Tribe rolled their first double plays of the year in support of A. Malyuk and White.  The first runs of the game were scored in the 3rd inning when the Jerks scored 2 runs on 2 hits.  The Tribe got on the board in the 4th when Cruickshank led off with a blast to the center field fence.  White then singled him home.  In a bit of deja vu from the game against Langley, the Tribe mounted a great comeback bid in the bottom of the 9th.  Hingston, who led off the inning with a walk, eventually scored when Drozdiak was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.  The game ended with the bases still juiced and a final score of 4 - 2.  The game saw stellar defense and pitching from the Tribe as well as plenty of scoring opportunities.  In a disappointing turn of events, Cruickshank was beaned zero times in 4 at bats.  He is now on pace for only 15 bean balls for the season, down from the original projection of 30.

COLD AND RAINY NIGHT IN COQUITLAM

The Tribe played their second game of the year at Blue Mtn Park in Coquitlam on a cold and rainy night.  Getting his first start of the year, Tom Hicks threw 3 respectable innings giving up 3 runs on only 2 hits.  Alex Malyuk and Kyle Davy followed Hicks by throwing an inning each, allowing only 1 run on 3 hits between the two.  Colin Newton had a great outing throwing in the 6th and 7th innings, striking out 4 Cardinals hitters including 3 in the 7th.  With the score 4 - 0 in the 7th, the Tribe got on the board with some smart baserunning.  After Malyuk Sr. started the inning with a walk, he eventually scored on a groundball hit my Kevin Madge that was mishandled by the Cardinal's short stop.  With runners on 1st and 3rd, Malyuk Jr. broke for 2nd early getting in to a rundown.  Madge alertly scored from 3rd base as the Cardinals 2nd baseman was focused on the rundown.  With the score now 5 - 2, the Cardinals opened the floodgates in the 8th, scoring their maximum 6 runs on 5 hits to end the game.  On a positive note, Kyle Cruickshank made his season debut tonight getting beaned twice in the losing cause.  Cruickshank is now on pace for 30 bean balls this season, which will surpass his alumni record last year of 12.  Cruickshank is 2nd all-time for a Tri City Indian with 37 beanballs, including 28 in the 2000 campaign.

OPENING NIGHT BATTLE OF THE PITCHERS IN LANGLEY

The Tribe opened the 2010 season with a tightly fought ballgame at MacLeod Field in Langley that saw only 8 hits and 5 runs scored between both teams.  Alexiou threw 3 solid innings allowing only 2 unearned runs and striking out 5.  The Tribe were able to get something going in the 4th and 6th but could not cash in any runs.   The Langley pitchers kept the Tribe off the board until the 9th inning when Drozdiak led off the inning with a walk following by Newton mashing a double into left field.  Davy cashed in Drozdiak on an infield single followed by Alex Malyuk getting an infield single of his own to load the bases.  The Tribe scored their second run on a wild pitch to the backstop.  The game would end with the bases loaded and a final score of 3-2.
The Tribe outhit their opponent 5-4 but stranded 11 runners on base.  All five Indians pitchers threw great games allowing only 4 hits over 9 innings.  It was a great tightly fought ballgame to open the season.

McAuley will also become the team's Assistant General Manager. Kyle Williams will continue hold the titles of Owner, General Manager, and will be a part time assistant coach in 2010. Other team responsibilities will be finalized in the near year.

TRI CITY MAKES NAME CHANGE HEADING INTO YEAR TWO
Tri City Indians Alumni have made a name change heading into their second season. The Tribe will be dropping the word "Alumni" from the end of their name; a move that reflects a change in the team's roster policy. In their inaguaral season the Tribe only selected players who had played for the Indians between 2000 and 2007; however that restriction has been removed for 2010. The 2010 Indians roster should be confirmed shortly.

SEASON ENDS AFTER ROUND 1
The Tri City Alumni inagural season came to an end Sunday afternoon with a 9-4 loss to the South Delta Padres.  Tyler Bird got the start for the tribe and despite experiencing flu like symptoms, Bird kept the tribe in the game early.  Offensivly, the Indians managed just 1 hit off the Padres starter through the first five innings.  The lone rally came in the top of the fourth inning when the tribe trailed by just a run.  After a Kyle Cruickshank hit-by-ptich, Ben Ronald hit a one out ground rule double that put runners on second and third.  However, the Indians could not push accross a run as the Delta pitcher struck out a pair to end the threat.  In the bottom of the inning, a leadoff error turned out to be costly as the Padres scored four runs on two-out rbi's including a two run home run off the left field foul pole.  Bird exited after his maximum five innings pitched giving up 6 runs, 1 earned, while striking out 7 and walking just one.  The tribe score a run in the sixth and three in the ninth off the Padres bulpen but it was far too late.  The Indians offence finished with 7 hits on the afternoon, two each by Ben Ronald, Wes Stein, and Joey McAuley.

TRIBE OPEN PLAYOFF RUN IN SOUTH DELTA
The Tri City Indians will play their first playoff game in alumni history next Sunday when they face the South Delta Padres and Dugold Morrison Park. The Tribe's only previous meeting against the Padres was a June 21st 10-2 loss. The Tribe have 13 eligible players for the playoffs: Madge, McAuley, Ronald, Cruickshank, Malyuk, Bird, Washburn, Williams, Mahovlich, Swelander, Drozdiak, Sharpe, and Stein.

8 MEN OUT - TRIBE DROP FINAL LEAGUE GAME OF THE SEASON 7-4 TO ALDERGROVE
Continuing to suffer from a team committment problem that has plaqued the Tribe all summer, the Indians dropped their final league game of the season 7-4 in Aldergrove Sunday. The Tribe held a late lead before Aldergrove finally took advantage of the eight man defence. The Tribe complete their  expansion season with a 7-9 record and finished in 7th place in their division. The Tribe will go on the road next weekend at the 2nd seed.

TRIBE COLLECT FORFEIT WIN AGAINST VANCOUVER
The Tri City Indians banked a 9-0 forfeit win Sunday evening as the Vancouer Mounties showed with only six players for their game at Heritage Woods Park. The 9 Indians combined with the 6 Mounties to play a 5 on 5 on 5 friendly scrimmage, which, to their credit, the umps stuck around for. Tri City closes the regular season next Sunday with a 4PM game in Aldergrove.

CONGRATS TO DADDY TREVOR JOHNSTONE
The Tri City Indians Alumni send out congratulations to alumnist Trevor Johnstone on the birth of his first son Ryder on Sunday afternoon. Johnstone played for the Tribe in 2000 and collected the win in the Provincial Final. Johnstone joins Greg Stephenson as the first two Dad's out of the 70 players that wore the TC colours from 00-07.

FORBES & SAUNIER X 2 COLLECT PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP AS COACHES
The Tri City Indians send out congratulations to alumnists Richard Forbes (2000-2002), Dan Saunier (2002-2004), and Dustin Saunier (2003) on winning the Bantam AAA Provincial Championships Sunday as assistant coaches with the Burnaby Braves. Saunier's hitters picked up Forbes' pitchers as Burnaby won the final 15-13 with a dramatic walkoff two run homer capping off an eight run bottom of the 7th.

TRIBE ALUMNIST ANDREW MADSEN WALKS OFF WITH PBL CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations go out to former Tri City Indian Andrew Madsen who had a walk-off single Sunday for the North Shore Twins to win the PBL Championship Game against Fraser Valley. Madsen was a member of the 2006 Indians and won a Western Canada Championship that year.

WILLIAMS PLAYS!!!! - TRIBE LOSE LIGHTENING SHORTED GAME 8-1
The Tri City Indians, with a eight man roster that included Coach Williams, lost a lightening shortened game 8-1 to the Coquitlam Cardinals Saturday evening at Blue Mtn. The game was called after three innings when dry lightening in the surrounding area threatened the safety of both teams. Considering the final score was not in doubt, the Tribe offered to call the game complete, instead of trying to complete 4 1/2 to make the game official. The game marked Kyle Williams' first start and first at bat since June 26/96. In three defensive innings, Williams recorded three assists (all first inning ground balls) and one putout (a MLB pop-up to end the 2nd). His only at bat of the day came with runners on the corners and one out in the top of the 2nd. Williams drew a four pitch walk to load the bases!

STATS TO BE UPDATED TOMORROW

DEPLEATED TRIBE ROSTER MAY FORCE WILLIAMS OUT OF RETIREMENT FOR SATURDAY GAME AT BLUE MOUNTAIN
With only 6 players (Swelander, Cruickshank, Malyuk, Washburn, Ronald, and Mahovlich) on the Tribe's 17 man roster available for tomorrow's game with excuses that include: hockey, fastpitch, weddings, working, and digging holes to measure the rate of retreat of the last glacial ice age, it appears Coach/GM/Owner Kyle Williams will be forced into action, with his first start in over 13 seasons. Williams, who doubled in his last at bat on June 26/96, has played defensively on only three occasions while coaching the Tribe. In order to field a nine man team, the Tribe have made two roster additions, adding former Coquitlam Red Oscar Rodriguez and Indian Alumnist Leyland Briscoe to the roster for the purpose of a one game call-up. Terry Mahovlich is the scheduled starter for the Tribe, while Joey McAuley will pitch in relief. Kevin Swelander will be third in line to pitch as he prepares for his annual outings in the Poco Men's fall ball season and Ben Ronald may see mop up innings or a chance to pick up a save! Assuming another player (maybe Stein) doesn't become availabe, which would allow Williams to stay retired here is the tentative starting line-up.

1) Swelander CF
2) Washburn  C
3) Cruickshank  SS
4) Mahovlich  P
5) Ronald  1B
6) Rodriguez  2B
7) Briscoe, L.  LF
8) McAuley  3B
9) Williams, K.  RF

TRIBE UPSET LEAD LEADERS 11-6
The Tri City Indians Alumni, with their massive nine man turnout, pulled off the biggest upset of the LMBA season defeating the Maple Ridge J's 11-6 Sunday afternoon. Tyler Bird and Kevin Madge had strong outings on the mound.

TRIBE THUMPED 15-2 BY THE DELTA DODGERS
The Delta Dodgers pounded out 17 hits and cruised to an easy 15-2 win Sunday evening at Heritage Woods. Kevin Swelander, Ben Ronald, Terry Mahovlich, and Kyle Cruickshank had the Tri City hits while Mahovlich, Joey McAuley, and Ryan Drozdiak each pitched an effective inning of relief after the game was out of hand. The Tribe host the Burnaby Yankees next Sunday in a rematch of a "chippy" affair from earlier in the season.

TRIBE END LOSING STREAK WITH ANOTHER LATE COMEBACK WIN
The Tri City Indians Alumni found another way to win Sunday evening, this time defeating the Langley Padres 10-9 at Heritage Woods. After the teams traded first inning runs the game stayed tight into the fourth until Terry Mahovlich doubled home two runs to give the Tribe a 3-1 lead. Tyler Bird pitched five strong innings, striking out six and scattering seven hits. With Bird departed, Langley tied the game in the 6th but the Tribe answered right back with a Tyler Bird RBI double to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the frame. The lead was short lived, however, as Langley exploded for six 7th inning runs to take a commanding 9-4 lead leaving the Tribe with work to be done. The Tribe got a start on that work in the bottom of the frame scoring four runs with two out to cut the lead to one. With runners on first and second and two out, a routine infield pop-up was dropped by the Langley catcher scoring a run and allowing the inning to continue where after a strong AB from Wade Harvey, Tyler Williams and Tyler Bird followed with RBI singles. Madge then came in and held Langley off the scoreboard in the top of the 8th setting the stage for walk off dramatics. After back to back walks to Ronald and Cruickshank, Mahovlich singled to left tying the game. Drozdiak then walked to load the bases and Joey McAuley collected the game winning RBI on a deep fly ball to left that was dropped. After some discussion, it was determined that there was not enough time to start a new inning so the game was declared final with the home team in the lead. The win moves the Tribe back to .500 with a 5-5 league record in their expansion season. Stats to follow.

TRIBE SUFFER THIRD STRAIGHT LOSS IN SOUTH DELTA
The Tri City Alumni found themselves in another early hole Sunday in South Delta and went on to lose 10-2.  The home team scored two runs in the first, two in the second, and five in the third on 9 hits to take an early 9-1 lead.  The teams traded runs in the fifth and Tri City left the bases loaded in the 6th and 8th.  In all, the tribe were just 2-14 with runners in scoring possition and left a total of 13 runners on base.  Kevin Madge and Tyler Bird both threw well in relief with Madge giving up 1 run in two innings of work and Bird throwing three scoreless.  The tribe return home next weekend for an interleague matchup versus the Langley Padres.

UGLY START LEADS TO 15-13 LOSS
The Tri City Alumni had a disastrous first three innings Sunday night as they gave up the first 9 runs of the ball game.  The tribe were not able to play defence for most of the evening as they commited a season high 7 errors.  The tribe managed to give up 15 runs in the game, but only 2 were earned.  The tribe would chip away at the lead late and had the tying run on first base in the bottom of the seventh.  Richmond would put the lead out of reach though in the 8th with 5 more runs.  The tribe put up the maximum 6 runs in the bottom of the inning to make things closer before the time limit rule ended the game.  Alex Malyuk was solid on the hill in middle innings relief alowing just one run in 3 2/3 innings work.  Malyuk also continued with his hot bat going 3-4 with 3 runs scored.  Wes Stein had a breakout game offensivly going 2-2 and also scoring 3 runs.

TRIBE SQUANDER LEAD LATE, FALL 7-6 TO BURNABY YANKEES
Despite an outstanding pitching performence from starter Tyler Bird, the Tri City Indians Alumni could not hold onto their lead Sunday evening in Burnaby.  Bird went the maximum 5 innings, giving up just 3 hits and no runs while picking up 8 K's.  The tribe got on the board in the top of the second thanks to singles by Bryan Washburn and Joey McAuley and a sac fly by Mat Gallagher.  The lead was increased in the 4th inning after a lead off double by Trevor Sharpe and rbi's by Kevin Swelander and Bryan Washburn.  A strange sixth inning put the tribe up 6-0 where the tribe scored three runs on no hits and no errors.  The offense in the inning came from four walks and a ground ball double play in which two runs came accross to score.  The Yankees would get one run back in the bottom of the sixth before Alex Malyuk was able to work out of bases loaded trouble with back to back strikeouts.  The tribe were in trouble again in the seventh with the first two runners reaching, but a 4-6-3 double play ended the threat.  The tribe were not so fortunate in the 8th when Burnaby scored the run limit 6 runs on 5 hits.  Down 7-6, the tribe managed to get runners on second and third with two outs in the 9th after singles by Terry Mahovlich and Kevin Swelander but that was as far as the runners would get.  The tribe return home next Sunday when they host Richmond.

TRIBE WIN FIRST HOME GAME THANKS TO STRONG PITCHING
The Tri City Indians Alumni got solid outings from all four pitchers on Sunday evening as they cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Burnaby Red Sox.  Kevin Madge started for the tribe, throwing three innings and giving up two unearned runs.  Joey McAuley followed with 2 1/3 scoreless innings alowing just one baserunner.  Alex Malyuk also held the Red Sox off the board over 2 2/3 innings and Tyler Bird threw a scoreless 9th.  Combined, the pitchers scattered 6 hits with no walks.  Extra base hits provided most of the tribe offense with Kyle Cruickshank, Terry Mahovlich, and Trevor Sharpe all recording doubles and Tyler Bird with a triple.  The win improves the tribe's record to 4-2 on the season, the next game is an exhibition contest this wednesday night at Blue Mountain versus the Coquitlam Cardinals.

PAIR OF BIG INNINGS PROPEL TRIBE PAST THE BURNABY BREWERS 8-3
The Tri City Indians Alumni scored in bunches Sunday afternoon to improve their record to 3-2 on the season.  Timely hitting was key for the tribe with seven of the eight runs comming on two-out base hits.  The victory marks the first career win for relief skipper Tyler Williams whose only other managerial appearance in a Tri City uniform came back in 2005 when the Indians lost 15-2.
The tribe started the scoring in the top of the first with 3 runs on rbi singles by Ryan Drozdiak and Bryan Washburn.  Burnaby would respond with 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd to cut the lead to one.  Tri City threatend to add to the lead in the third when they loaded the bases with none out, but a soft line drive double play ended the threat.  Burnaby responded in the bottom of the inning with a lead off double that would eventually come around to tie the game.  The tribe would regain the lead for good with 5 runs in the 6th inning.  Kyle Cruickshank got the inning going with a lead off home run, and the remaining offense was thanks to a key two out rally.  With Washburn on first and two out, Trevor Sharpe singled to keep the inning alive.  Tyler Bird then reached on an error which scored Wasburn, Williams pulled a two-rbi double, and Kevin Swelander cashed in Williams on his third single of the day.  Bird would do the rest on the mound, picking up a four inning save while alowing no runs on just two singles and one walk.  Ryan Drozdiak picked up the win on his first appearance of the season thanks to a scoreless fifth inning in relief.

TRIBE RECORD FALLS TO 2-2 AFTER LOSS TO MAPLE RIDGE JERKS
Runs came early and often on a rainy Sunday evening at Heritage Woods as the teams combined for 27 hits in a 14-11 Maple Ridge win.  The Jerks scored 3 in the top of the first that would have been more if not for an outstanding diving catch by shortstop Kyle Cruickshank that resulted in an unassisted double play to end the inning. The alumni responded with 4 in the bottom of the inning thanks to a 2-out, 3-rbi double by Trevor Sharpe.  Maple Ridge would briefly retake the lead in the 3rd with 3 more runs before the alumni scored 5 in the bottom of the inning.  Bryan Washburn had the big hit in the 3rd with a bases clearing double.  Maple Ridge starting pitcher, and former Tri City Indian JR Morrill left after 3 1/3 innings of work giving up 9 runs on 8 hits, 5 BB, and 5 hit batters.  The alumni would add to the lead in the bottom of the 5th with a 2-rbi double by Kevin Madge. The lead would stand until the 7th and final inning when Maple Ridge put up 5 runs to take a 14-11 lead. Joey McAuley had a strong game for the alumni going 2-3 at the plate and throwing 3 effective innings on the mound.  The alumni will be home again next Sunday evening for an exhibition game vs. Richmond.

TRIBE DROP HOME OPENER WITH 12-7 LOSS TO COQUITLAM
The Tri City Alumni dug a hole they couldn't dig out of Sunday evening and fall to a 2-1 record on the season.  Coquitlam led 9-2 after 6 innings of play, but the tribe scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th and added another run in the 8th to make things interesting.  Coquitlam would squash the comback in the top of the 9th with a pair of two out hits that cashed in 3 more runs.  Tyler Bird threw 5 innings for the tribe and held Coquitlam hitless for three innings until some defensive miscues cost the tribe.  Joey McAuley and Terry Mahovlich each threw a scoreless inning in relief to allow the Indian bats to make the game close.  Tyler Bird, Terry Mahovlich, Tyler Williams, and Trevor Sharpe had multiple hit games in the loosing cause and Ryan Drozdiak hit the first home run of the season with a three run shot to left in the 7th inning.  The Alumni are home again next Sunday when the Maple Ridge Jerks visit Heritage Woods.
