Game Notes: Wednesday night rain filled game will go down as one of the more interesting games in Gibbon Reds history. Rain came down for all but 1 1/2 innings and lightning lit up the sky all around the ballpark. On the field pitchers struggled and batters took advantage. 29 runs were scored along with 23 hits, 20 walks, and 11 hit batters. The final two pitchers of the night were the most successful for both their respective teams. Those two pitchers were Jon Cook (winning pitcher) and Jon DeRock (losing pitcher) and they both went the final four innings and change. Justin Schwecke, Ryan Panning, DeRock, and Brandon Kerling all had multiple hits for the Reds, while Wade Dollerschell, Kerling, and Alex Busch all had multiple RBI games. Andy Cook, Chris Reinharts, and Tim Schwartz lead the offense for Leavenworth. After the tough loss, Gibbon will look to regroup in St. James Friday night with the opportunity to lock up a second place seed in the playoffs all while keeping the possibility of the one seed alive. |
