Game
Notes:
The Thunder rallied late, but Burnsville held on for the win 7-5. The Pythons (4-2, 2-1) touched starter Dan Coyle (1-1) for four runs in the second to take an early lead. Coyle went three innings, yielding three hits and striking out two in his first start in over two seasons. Sam Foy (2 ER) came on and gave the club four solid innings in relief. Trailing 4-0, Thunder answered with two in the third to half the deficit. Burnsville tallied three more runs to take a 7-2 lead into the 7th, but the Thunder club wasn't done. Eastview (4-2, 2-1) plated three, loaded the bases, and had the winning run on with one out, but the Pythons quelled the threat with a game-ending double play. True to form, the two clubs again found themselves in a game decided by two runs or less for the fifth consecutive game. The last time a game between the two was decided by more than two runs was in the 2006 district playoffs. Cory Meyer (2RS, 6AST), Pete "Z-Man" Zukanoff (2RS, 2B) and Adam Shie (2B) each had two hits, with Shie also knocking in a pair. Joel Bertelsen (BB) added a run scored and Robbie Sikich had an RBI. Andy Dziekan, Andy Gensch, Casey Jacobson all had hits, as the Thunder totaled 17 baserunners but left ten on base for the night. The club has Wednesday off before returning to action Thursday against crosstown rival Apple Valley. Veteran righthander Spencer Pratt is expected to get the ball.
