Game
Notes:
The Thunder advanced to the State Tournament with a 6-3 win over Burnsville, giving the club its second trip to the big dance in three seasons. Righthander Matt Neutz (3-0) pitched a five-hit complete game with just one base on balls, needing only 86 pitches to earn the victory. Nick "the Quick" Molitor (21B,2SB,2RS,RBI) and Pat "Fast Money" Coyne (2B,2RS,RBI,SB) each had two hits to lead the offense. "Easy" Eddie Hagberg (RBI) and Beau "Ichibeau" Jacobson (RBI) added hits for the club. Brad "B-Train" Landgrebe and Jacobson each had two put-outs and four assists, with Jacobson turning in a web gem pick up and throw on a bunt attempt to thwart a Python rally. Jake "Scoop" Kruegel had a season-high eleven put-outs at first base, including several picks in the dirt to lift the defense in support of Neutz' mound mastery. With the win, the Thunder earned a berth in the State Tournament at Coon Rapids Friday, where they will face Tri-City Gold in the opening round of play.
