PICTURES WILL BE HANDED OUT AFTER THE CEREMONIES ARE DONE. COACH BRENT REMINDER TO PARENTS: Players need to be at the park at least 1/2 hour before game time for pre-game practice and warm up this is very important. Also if you cannot make it to a game please call Coach Brent in Advance.
Whalley Wizards Game Summary for April 28th and 29th Wow Wizards what a bunch of fireworks we witnessed on the mini diamond this weekend! We scored 17 runs in 5 innings of play We had an extremely tough game on Saturday against the more experienced Swamp Dragons but we played very well and made some great defensive plays. Justin and Hayden each recorded 3 outs to surpass Coach Brent’s goal of three outs total in the whole game. It was a real strong team effort as Jake played shortstop and was a brick wall knocking down 3 hard line drives and saving a few runs for sure. Catcher Renee was solid in her first appearance behind the dish and took a hard shot in the back by a Swamp dragon bat halfway though the game. She was ok and came back to get revenge with an important hit later in the game and took the wizard award for best smile of the Day. Way to take one for the team Renee! The Wizards bats were red hot late in the game but we played a little small ball for a bit with the following wizards recording RBI’s Justin 1, Steve 1, Ashton 1, Jake 1 Katrina 1. Karina M went 2 for 2 off the pitching machine way to go Katrina great eye on the ball! Sammy showed fantastic wheels on the base paths and was an offensive threat and scored at will and had one stolen base. Hayden closed out the Wizards scoring in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a 2 strike blast for a home run…. I think the ball is still rolling around the outfield ….. Nice blast Hayden. Sunday April 29th Wizards Vs Raptors What a great Sunny Sunday afternoon for a game and the Wizards were almost at full strength with only one Wizard missing. The Raptors had first bats and jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead but our Wizards showed a lot of character and responded back with 5 runs of our own to tie the score 5-5 after the first inning. Our defense made some nice plays to first and it looks like we are starting to get better at making the easy outs. Justin recorded a beautiful out at first when he tagged the base after a hard hit down the first base line and Hayden covered short stop like a blanket. Catchers Sammy and Steve did a nice job of blocking balls and did not allow a pass ball during their very first appearances as catchers. The Wizards offense exploded in the second inning with Ashton’s solo home run as he knocked the stuffing out of the ball. After looking at the first pitch and letting it go Ashton smiled at Coach Brent and said this ones going over! The Wizards other big left handed batter Joel smashed a monster double to center field that drove in 2 runs and had 2 more RBI’s in the first inning. The Wizards stacked the bases with loads of nice singles and we scored RBI’s by Jake 1, Justin 1, Steve 1, Katrina 1 and Sammy 1 Renee L was a major threat on the bases and ran with blinding speed while Owen with some sneaky and shifty footwork deeked out the Raptor 3rd baseman to steal 3rd base and help to cap off a very impressive inning. Great job in both games Wizards way to have fun and play hard! Go Canucks Go! Coach Brent .

Spring Preview Whalley Wizards Baseball Team April 27th The coaches have been working hard with this year’s addition of the Whalley Wizards. We’ve had 6 practices before the start of the season. This year we have six new players joining the team and five returning from last year. The strength of the team this year appears to come from the bat power in the Wizards line up. Returning players left handed batters Joel C and Ashton K are really driving the ball with power and is complimented by the consistent hitting of Justin S(3for 3) in the first game Hayden C (3 rbi’s to date ) Add in the timely hitting of Jake P who had a bottom of the 2nd 2 out 2 strike game winning double that helped us beat the storm 10-9 on April 24th on the last play of the game. This hit scored Hayden C from second base for the game winning run. Newcomers Steven K, Renee L, Katrina M, Tianna C, Owen C and Sammy G have all been able to hit the ball off the pitching machine and have had big hits that have contributed to game winning runs and loads of RBI’s. We are looking forward to another fun and exciting season of Whalley Mini division baseball this year and hope that rain holds off so that we can get as many games in as possible. Thanks to all the parents who have been great with their support for the team with field set up, coaching, dug out duties etc, your help has made it a fun season so far. Thank you!
