Posted Mar 1/10 - NMB Wins Opening Game 3-2 over Loris

North Myrtle Beach survived a close game against Loris Monday night winning 3-2.  It was the opening game of the 1st Annual Jeff Butler Memorial Surf and Turf Border Battle preseason tournament.  Dedrick Searcy pitched 6 strong innings for the Chiefs striking out 9 Loris hitters.  Billy Ferguson came in to close the game, recording the save.  8th grader Will Hardwick delivered the big hit in the 6th inning to drive in 2 runs. Freshman Brandon Miller then hit a single to right field, moving Hardwick from 1st to 3rd base.  Hardwick then scored on a wild pitch to put the Chiefs ahead.  Searcy, Bill Seddinger, and Lawrence Long also delivered singles during the game.

Posted Feb 27/10 - Final scrimmage game at Conway
Final scrimmage before the games count resulted in the Conway Tigers winning 10-5 in an 8 inning game.  NMB used 6 pitchers, including some young guys to get some work in.  Cash Spouse and Brandon Miller (freshman) both threw well in each of their 1 inning of work.  At the plate, Sophmore Billy Ferguson had 2 hits, Junior Dedrick Searcy hit a double in the 4th inning.  Bill Seddinger, Lawrence Long, and Lake Thompson also contributed singles.

In a rainy, sloppy, cold game at Waccamaw, the Chiefs committed far too many errors in a 5-1 loss, allowing only 1 earned run.  Only Stephen Butler managed a hit for NMB.

Posted Feb 18/10 - 2010 North Myrtle Beach Chiefs Preview
The cast from television’s Extreme Makeover made a visit to Loris earlier this year and it would have been helpful if they had taken a trip a little farther south on highway 9 to help the Chiefs. North Myrtle Beach graduated seven and lost two players for academic and disciplinary reasons. Four year starters like Tripp Faulk, Daniel Smith and Matt Johnson have completed their careers and will be replaced by a number of newcomers to the Chief lineup.

Posted Feb 18/10 - Chiefs tie Loris 3-3

Not only was the temperature cold Thursday night, the bats were also for both teams as North Myrtle Beach and Loris played a 7 inning scrimmage game to a 3-3 tie at the Polo Grounds in the Ripken Experience complex.  Bill Seddinger hit a home run over the right field wall in the 1st inning.  Seddinger also had a single in the 3rd inning.  Billy Ferguson hit a triple to the right center field gap in the 6th inning and rising 8th grader Will Hardwick roped a single in the 4th inning.  That was all the hits the Chiefs managed on the night.

Posted Feb 17/10 - Chiefs Start the Baseball Season with a Bang
Chiefs start the season with a great win over Aynor in an 8 inning scrimmage game Wednesday night.  It was a cold night and the field was sloppy but the baseball was great.  The Chiefs couldn't have scripted a better start.  Leadoff hitter Dedrick Searcy started the game with a single, then Bill Seddinger drove a double over the head of the right fielder's head.  Billy Ferguson then crushed a fastball over the left center field wall for a 3 run home run.  Jason Ritter then stepped to the plate and deliver a curve ball over the left field fence for another home run.  Stephen Butler then roped a single.  Stephen Butler started the game on the mound and pitched 3 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts.  Billy Ferguson took the mound in the 4th to give up only 1 run in 3 innings of work, striking out 8 Aynor hitters.  Lukas Ray came out from behind the plate to pitch the final 2 innings striking out 5 hitters.  Searcy, Ritter, and Lawrence Long each finished with 2 hits.

Posted Feb 10/10 - Former Chief Tripp Faulk Gets Base Hit in First Collegiate At-Bat
Former North Myrtle Beach High School baseball player Tripp Faulk delivered a 2 out RBI single tonight in his first collegiate at-bat at Wingate University.  Faulk entered the game in the 7th inning with a runner at second base with 2 outs.  With a 3-2 count, Faulk delivered a single up the middle to drive in the run.

Posted Nov 20/09 - Lukas Ray Shines at 2009 Top Gun Sports Winter World Series
Current NMB Chiefs player Lukas Ray had a great weekend at the 2009 Top Gun Sports Winter World Series held in Concord, N.C. this past weekend.  His travel team went 4-0 winning the tournament.  Lukas pitched 5 innings on Saturday striking out 12 of the 15 batters he faced.  He allowed 1 hit and gave up 2 walks during the game which the won in 5 innings by the mercy rule.  Lukas caught the remaining 3 games of the tournament throwing out all 3 stolen base attempts to second base.  At the plate, Lukas went 8 for 11 with 2 doubles and 4 walks on the weekend.  He also stole 2 bases.

NMB lost to St. James on Tuesday, November 3 at Myrtle Beach High School field 5 -2.  Stephen Butler started and pitched 3 innings, Jason Ritter and Billy Ferguson each pitched 2 innings.  Bill Seddinger hit a gapper for a double late in the game for the offensive highlight of the game.
