CLARK — The Platte-Geddes 15-16-year-old baseball team won the Class B state VFW baseball tournament Sunday at Dickinson Park.

The following Mt. Vernon players were named to the VFW Varsity All-Region 3B Team. Players are selected based on stats for the regular season and region tournament play. Those players selected 1st Team All-Region will move on to be considered for All-State recognition.

MOUNT VERNON — Nate Zens went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs to lead the Mount Vernon 15-and-16-year-old VFW baseball team past Parkston, 12-2, in five innings in a second-round game of the I-90 League midseason tournament.

PARKSTON - The Mt. Vernon 15-16 year old VFW baseball team beat Armour, 15-5, in five innings in the first round of the I-90 league's midseason tournament Wednesday night.

MOUNT VERNON — Nate Zens went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs to lead the Mount Vernon 15- and-16-year-old VFW baseball team past Corsica, 11-6, on Wednesday night.

REDFIELD — The Mount Vernon 15-16-year-old teener baseball team took the consolation championships at the Maurice Ratigan Memorial Tournament in Redfield over the weekend.

MOUNT VERNON — Brian Vermeulen went 3-for-3 with a two-run double to lead the Mount Vernon 15- and-16-year-old VFW baseball team past White Lake/Kimball, 14-4, in six innings Friday night.

MT. VERNON - The Mt. Vernon Mustangs 15-16 VFW Team opened the 2010 season with an 8-1 win over Parkston. Starting pitcher, Nate Zens, picked up the win on the mound pitching 3 innings and giving one hit, 1 earned run, 6 walks and 6 strike outs. Cam Deinert came in to relieve Zens, pitching the final 4 frames giving up just 3 hits, no earned runs, 1 walk with 2 strike outs.
