CHAMBERLAIN � The Mount Vernon VFW baseball team cruised past Chamberlain 20-4 in five innings Tuesday.
The game was ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Mount Vernon�s Justin Davis pitched four innings, allowed one earned run and two hits. He walked two, struck out six and picked up the win.
Offensively, Charlie Mahaffey was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs and Brian Vermeulen was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Drew Frey was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Cody Renken was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Bryce Erickson was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Deric Denning had a double.
Chamberlain�s Chris Schwartz took the loss. He went 1 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and six earned runs. He walked five and struck out two.
Mount Vernon won the 13-14-year-old game 20-2.
