Josh Meents the starting Catcher for the Sandvipers over the last 3 seasons has played his last game as a Sandviper. Josh was injured twice this season with seperation of his throwing shoulder and then received a broken finger when returning from his shoulder injury he took the back swing while Catching. The back swing hit Joshs index finger on his glove hand. He finished the game, but found later he needed surgery. Once his cast came off Josh may have rushed himself a little and ended up once again injuring the finger and will now need a second surgery.
Josh was relocating in August with the Military so he would not have time to recover back from the injury. Josh gave the Sandvipers one of the most feared backstops in the league. A switchhitting Catcher with good knowledge of the game, Josh called 3 Sandvipers No-Hitters and helped the Sandvipers with 4 league Championships.
Replacing Josh this season behind the dish has been Sean Reilly. Sean has moved right into the slot vacated by Josh, including catching 1 No-Hitter and keeping a team ERA of .360. Sean is also hitting .306 for the season.
Meents ends his Sandvipers career hitting .313 in 54 Games. Sandvipers are hopeful to have Meents join them in Arizona for the NABA World Series Tournament. Good luck Josh!
