Mount Vernon and Corsica will play for the 15- and 16-year old teener I-90 Midseason Tournament championship Sunday as both teams won their respective pools.
Mount Vernon�s pool was played in Mount Vernon Thursday and Friday, and Corsica hosted its side of the tournament.
On Friday, Mount Vernon beat Alexandria-Emery 13-3 in six innings.
Drew Frey picked up the win as he went the first three innings and gave up two earned runs on two hits, two walks and struck out four. Deric Denning threw three scoreless innings in relief and struck out seven.
Charlie Mahaffey led Mount Vernon at the plate as he went 4-for-4 with three RBIs. Bryce Erickson also had three RBIs and Jonathon Linke had two RBIs. Justin Davis, Denning and Joe Davis all had one RBI.
Logan Sapp was tagged for the loss for Alexandria-Emery as he gave up 14 hits, 11 earned runs, four walks and struck out seven in six innings.
Dylan Seubert went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Kyelle Herrick was 1-for-2 for Alexandria-Emery.
On Thursday, Mount Vernon defeated White Lake/Kimball 7-3 as Justin Davis allowed only one hit and struck out 10 batters in seven innings of work.
Erickson and Joe Davis both had two RBIs and Drew Frey had an RBI.
Kyle Peters took the loss for White Lake/Kimball as he pitched 6 2/3 innings and gave up seven runs on five hits, seven walks and struck out seven.
Jacob Kirsch had a triple and an RBI for White Lake/Kimball.
In the other game Thursday, White Lake/Kimball defeated Alexandria-Emery 14-7.
The three games in Corsica were played Thursday. Corsica defeated Plankinton 12-9 and Lyman 15-0 to go 2-0 in pool play.
Plankinton defeated Lyman 15-14.
All of Sunday�s games will be played in Plankinton.
Mount Vernon plays Corsica at 4 p.m. Sunday in the championship game.
Plankinton plays White Lake/Kimball at 2 p.m. for third place and Alexandria-Emery plays Lyman at noon for fifth place. |
