After earning a number one seed out of pool play with 10-1 and 5-3 victories, the Jayhawks defeated Raymond Big Al's 8-3 in the quarterfinals and Camas Granite 11-3 in the semifinals before falling in the championship game to host Hoquiam 8-3.
In pool play, Nick Martin earned MVP honors for game one after throwing four innings and giving up just one run while also going 2 for 3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs. In game two, Anthony Garner was named MVP as he took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, leading the Jayhawks to the 5-3 win.
In the quarterfinals against Raymond Big Al's, Dylan Spinella was named MVP after pitching four innings of shut-out relief which allowed the Jayhawks to come from behind to win 8-3. In the semis, Justin Rinta had a first inning grand-slam and a two RBI triple to earn MVP honors in an 11-3 Jayhawk win.
In the championship game, the Jayhawks had their first few defensive miscues of the tournament come back to cost them as they dropped the championship game to Hoquiam 8-3. For the tournament, the Jayhawks finished 4-1 and improved their record to 5-1 on the season (1-0 in league play). They will return to action today at 5:30 against leage foe Camas.
