LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Campbellsville University baseball team is the Mid-South Conference preseason favorite in 2010, according to the conference coaches' preseason poll released on Tuesday.
Campbellsville received 46 voting points, including five first-place votes from the league coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
The Tigers captured last season's regular season title with a 16-1 record and completed the MSC sweep with their fifth straight tournament championship.
University of the Cumberlands is projected to finish second in the conference after receiving 43 voting points, including the final three first-place votes.
Georgetown College (35 points) is predicted to finish third in the eight-team conference, while MSC newcomer University of Rio Grande (30) is projected fourth.
St. Catharine College (29) and Lindsey Wilson College (19) and are predicted fifth and sixth respectively, while West Virginia University Institute of Technology (13) and Pikeville College (7) rounds out the coaches' preseason picks.
The Mid-South Conference regular season begins in mid-March with the MSC Tournament scheduled to begin April 30 with opening round series at various sites.
