Posted May 5/10 - MSC Baseball Tournament begins Thursday at Tiger Field

Four teams have advanced to the final site of the Mid-South Conference Baseball Tournament, May 6-8, at Campbellsville University's Tiger Field.

The double-elimination tournament will begin Thursday, May 6 with No. 2-seed University of Rio Grande challenging No. 3-seed Georgetown College at 1 p.m., followed by top-seed Campbellsville University and No. 4-seed St. Catharine College at 4:30 p.m. The double-elimination tournament continues throughout the day on Friday with the championship game scheduled for Saturday, May 8 at 2 p.m.



Top-seeded Campbellsville advanced to the final four after sweeping a doubleheader Friday against visiting and No. 8-seed Pikeville College. The Tigers won both games by scores of 14-4 and 18-2, as they begin their MSC Tournament title defense. CU is looking for its sixth consecutive MSC Tournament Championship.

Second-seed Rio Grande defeated No. 7 West Virginia University Tech in a best-of-three series April 30 to May 1. Rio took the first game April 30 by a score of 16-3 and then shut out Tech, 13-0, May 1. This is Rio Grande's first year in the Mid-South Conference

No. 3 Georgetown is looking for its first MSC Tournament championship. The Tigers were in the hunt for a regular season championship until the final weekend of the 2010 season. Georgetown swept No. 6 Lindsey Wilson College on April 29-30 with a pair of wins: 4-3 and 8-6.

No. 4-seed St. Catharine College won a pair of games April 30 over visiting and fifth-seeded University of the Cumberlands. The host Patriots won the opener 12-2 before closing the series with a 7-5 win.


Live Statistics will be available for all games via DakStats. Also, a live video Web cam will be available for fans to watch and hear the game as if they were sitting in the stands at Tiger Field. The live video stream will be available each day, approximately 30 minutes before the first game until the conclusion of the last game. Click here for the Web cam.

Admission for the tournament is $10 for Thursday, $7 for Friday and $5 for Saturday. A tournament pass is available for $20.

MSC Tournament T-shirts will be available for $12 each. Concessions will be sold on site.
