The Mid-South Conference announced its 2010 baseball all-conference honors today at the conference's annual banquet hosted by Campbellsville University.

Campbellsville senior pitcher Ian Pick is the MSC Pitcher of the Year as voted on by the coaches.


Pick is 10-0 this season and ranks in the conference's top-10 in seven different statistical categories.




The Santa Clara, Calif., native, ranks first in the conference in runs allowed (16), hits allowed (48) and walks per nine innings (1.94). His 10 wins are second in the MSC while is 2.26 ERA is fourth and his 7.76 hits per nine innings is fifth in the conference.


Pick helped the Tigers to the MSC regular season title with a 22-5 conference record.


University of Rio Grande third baseman and pitcher Tyler Schunk was selected at the MSC Player of the Year by the league coaches.


The Cincinnati, Ohio, senior, led the conference in four statistical categories and second in five other categories this season.


At the plate, Schunk led the MSC with 12 home runs and tied for the conference lead with 67 runs batted in. He enters today's games with a .411 batting average, a .766 slugging percentage and 22 doubles -- all second in the MSC. His 72 hits during the season are fourth best in the conference.


On the mound, Schunk leads the conference with a .194 opposition batting average and with 6.38 hits allowed per nine innings. He is second with a 2.13 earned run average and 71 strikeouts. His nine wins this season is third best in the conference.


Schunk helped the Redstorm to a 20-7 conference mark and a second place finish in their first season in the MSC.


In addition to Schunk, Campbellsville first baseman Brian Chase, University of the Cumberlands second baseman Jake Martin, Lindsey Wilson College third baseman Max Rhodes and St. Catharine College shortstop Ryan Mangione and Rio Grande shortstop Brad Konrad were voted all-conference infield by the conference coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.


The conference coaches selected Campbellsville's Alex Ponich, Georgetown College's Tyler Fisher, St. Catharine's Phillip Dean and Cumberlands' Sean Mahley as the all-conference outfielders.


Rio Grande's Tyler Plumpton and Campbellsville's Richie Rowland were selected all-conference catchers, while Cumberlands' Devin Hicks was picked as the conference's utility player and Georgetown's Pete Thackston as the designated hitter.


The conference's starting pitchers consist of Pick, Schunk, St. Catharine's Travis Adams and Rio Grande's Ryan Robertson. St. Catharine's Brad Krohman is the all-conference relief pitcher.


In addition to being selected all-conference, Robertson was voted as the MSC Baseball Freshman of the Year after going 11-1 with a 3.49 ERA. His 11 wins lead the MSC.


Campbellsville's Beauford Sanders was voted on by his peers as the MSC Coach of the Year after leading the Tigers to the MSC regular season title.


Georgetown's Cameron Allen was named the MSC Softball Champions of Character recipients. Allen earned the award -- as voted on by the conference athletics director -- for his civic and servant leadership within the campus and community.


Seventeen earned honorable mention all-conference honors.


Campbellsville's Eric Mattos and Logan Smith; Cumberlands' Kyle Cochis, Miguel Vazquez and Josh Wood; Georgetown's K.C. Massie; Lindsey Wilson's Heath Barnes, Drew Barrett and Derek Cape; Pikeville's Ryan Bartalon; Rio Grande's Michael Lynch, Chris Mahon, Francisco Ramirez and Ryan Yakura; St. Catharine's Adam Blair; and West Virginia Tech's Ryan Kessinger and Jeff Krauklis earned honorable mention honors.


Forty-five baseball student-athletes were recognized as Academic All Mid-South Conference. The distinction is reserved for student-athletes with a sophomore or higher class ranking and a 3.25 and above grade point average.

Lindsey Wilson College

Drew Barrett, Derek Cape, Jose Castro, Garrett Helm, Jared Long and Joseph Willis.


Pikeville College

David Bishop, Kyle Robertson and Chris Vicini.


St. Catharine College

Adam Blair, Morgan Jones, Tony Krohman, Jeremy Pierson, Christ Smith and Neal Straton.


University of Rio Grande

Joshua Allen, Ryan Chapman, Jacob Cooke, Richard Hernandez, Brad Konrad, Chris Mahon, Dominick McAllister, Tyler Plumpton and Desmond Sullivan.
