In the opening non-league game of the 2011 season, the Red Birds visited Lions Park in Waconia, and it probably felt more like a lion's den as the Lakers pounded out 10 hits and coupled with 11 walks from three Red Bird pitchers, Waconia got their revenge from losing three games to the Red Birds in 2010, and beat Chanhassen 13 - 0, in a score-shortened game of 7 innings.

Red Bird pitchers struggled with control in the first outing of the year and  indicate that more "Spring Training" work is needed.   Batting Cage workouts are in order as well since the Red Birds could muster only one bloop hit to right field by 1B Zach Swenson.

NEXT GAME for the Red Birds will be on Saturday, April 23rd, for a 4:00 PM start against the Cologne Hollanders at Storm Red Bird Stadium in Chanhassen.  This is another non-league game and there will be no concessions available for the game.
