St. Martin scratched out three runs early and made them stand up for a 3-0 win over Farming on Friday, under the lights in St. Martin.
The Flames had a couple of good rallies but failed to score. In the third, Farming had runners on second and third with one out. But a safety squeezed failed, followed by a popout to end the threat. In the seventh, we had runners on first and third with one out, but two consecutive strikeouts ended the inning. Zach Posterick, Greg Holthaus, and Derrick Roush had two hits a piece for the Flames.
Brad Mergen started and went the first six innings, giving up five hits and striking out eight. Chad Mergen pitched the final two innings, giving up one hit and striking out four.
The Flames play their second game of the weekend as they host Lake Henry on Saturday at 1:30pm. |
