Posted Jun 13/12 - Red Birds over the Cardinals, 10 - 0 in 8 innings

Chanhassen prevailed over Fairfax by a score of 10 - 0 in 8 innings on Wednesday night at Storm Red Bird Stadium.

Jeff Pavlovich and TJ Gulden drew walks to open the bottom of the first.  John Gulden then singled to drive in Pavlovich.  Kurt Jantscher then dropped a bunt to sacrifice the runners up.  Justin Thompson then singled to drive in the Guldens to make the score 3-0 after one inning.

In the bottom of the third, David Naughtin was hit by pitcher Cody Loverude.  Jantscher then hit into a fielder's choice that forced Naughtin at 2nd base.  Justin Thompson hit a single to center field, that was bobbled and allowed Jantscher to advance to 3rd base.  Nate Swenson then hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Jantscher from 3rd base.  4-0 after 3 innings.

In the top of the 4th, Erdal doubled to lead off the inning.  With 1 out, DeRoche for the Cardinals hit a liner to left fielder Kyle Kemble and he got the double play catching Erdal off 2nd base to end the inning and the threat by Fairfax.

In the bottom of the 4th, Pavlovich, TJ Gulden and John Gulden got three singles in a row that scored Pav for the 5-0 lead after 4 innings.

In the top of the seventh, Fairfax 3B Black, singled for just the second hit off Kurth.  After Kurth got DeRoche for his 2nd strikeout, Catcher Buboltz lined to Red Bird 2nd baseman Mike Cerjance who threw behind Black to catch him before returning to 1st base for the double play to end the innning.

Fairfax tried to mount a threat in the top of the 8th, when a walk, a single and a walk loaded the bases with two outs.  But a grounder to John Gulden at third, and he stepped on the bag to force out LF Wegscheid to end the threat.

Kyle Kemble lead off the bottom of the 8th with a sinlge;advanced to 2nd when Reid Teigland drew a walk.   the runners moved up one base on a wild pitch by Loverude.  Mike Cerjance then drew a walk to load the bases with nobody out.   Loverude then got Gulden to swing at a third strike for one out.  Then tom Bergner laced a single to drive in Kemble from 3rd base and keep the bases loaded.   Then Kurt janatscher singled to drive in Teigland and Cerjance for the 8-0 lead.   Then Justin Thompson doubled to drive in Bergner and Jantscher for the game ending RBI's.

Pavlovich and Jantscher each scored twice, TJ Gulden was 2-2, John Gulden was 2-2 with 2 RBI's, Kyle Kemble singled and scored a run, and Justin Thompson went 3-5 with 4 RBI's.

Starting Pitcher, Justin Kurth moved his record to 2-0 on 4 starts.  He got the complete game victory and shutout on just 4 hits and 2 walks for the Cardinals, and notched 3 Strikeouts.

Next game, Saturday, June 16th at Hendrson against the Tigers at 4:00 PM.

Then Home on Sunday, June 17th against the Belle Plaine Tigers for a 6:00 PM Start.
