The Stearns County League teams played well this first weekend, taking one of three contests. On Friday night, Richmond lost to a solid Avon club by a 3-0 margin. Ethan Vogt's five-hitter led Elrosa to a 6-0 shutout of Loretto on Saturday. And Spring Hill lost a heartbreaker on Sunday to Jordan, 3-2, in 13 innings. (By the way State Board, what the heck is Jordan doing in Class C? They've won several state titles at the B-level).
Two SCL teams are left as the tournament heads into its second weekend. On Saturday, Elrosa battles Sobieski, 5:00pm at Delano. And on Sunday, Lake Henry plays Bluffton, 7:30pm, also at Delano. Best wishes to both the Saints and Lakers as they carry the torch for the SCL.
