Posted Jul 9/10 - RVL All Stars win 2-0 over DRS All Stars

The River Valley League All Stars beat the Dakota-Rice-Scott All Stars by a score of 2-0 at famed Tiger Park in Belle Plaine on Friday night, July 9th.

3B Kyle Geason of the Chaska Cubs was the outstanding player for the RVL team with 2 RBIs on two doubles and a SAC fly to center in his 3 plate appearances.

Starter, Scott Holingsworth of the Jordan Brewers, earned the win for RVL, working 4 innings, allowing just 2 hits, one walk and getting 6 Ks.

RVL scored in the bottom of the first when SS Aaron Olson of the Skalopee Indians drew a walk from DRS starter and LP Chris Hartman of the New Prague Orioles, then scored easily on Geason's drive into the left field corner.

In the 3rd inning, Hollingsworth drew a walk.  Pinch runner, Mike Milam from the Le Sueur Braves went to second on a wild pitch,  then advanced to 3rd on a single by C Justin Johnson (Chaska Cubs).  After another walk to Olson by DRS reliever, Glen Parker of the Elko Express, that loaded the bases, Geason launched a fly ball to deep center that plated Milam for the last score of the night.

For the Red Birds, both Cary McLaughlin and Jeff Pavlovich entered the game in the 6th inning.  Jeff to LF and Cary to RF. Both got plate appearances as well.

The win for the RVL put them ahead 2-1 in the series with DRS.

In the HomeRun Derby, also won by the RVL All Stars, the 4 hitters from the RVL combined for 10 dingers against just 5 for the DRS stars.  Justin Johnson, Chaska Cubs, was the slugging star with 5 over the fences at Tiger Park.
