Posted Jul 27/10 - Red Birds game suspended at 1-0

The Red Birds hosted Henderson Tigers in an elimination game Tuesday evening.   The game started a little ahead of schedule with hopes of getting the game in before the storms came.  But no such luck.

The game was suspended by the umpires at the end of the 4th inning with the Red Birds holding a 1-0- lead over Henderson.

The game will resume tomorrow evening, July 28th, at 7:30 PM, with Henderson coming to bat in the top of the 5th inning.

Mat Peot opened on the mound for the Tigers and has two Ks, allowed 1 BB and allowed the only run to score from 3rd when John Gulden singled with 1 out in the 2nd.  Gulden advanced to 3rd on Zach Swenson's double to left center.  Then with the wind swirling dust and leaves with the coming storm, Peot threw a wild pitch that skittered toward the Tigers dugout, and Gulden bolted to home with a head first slide, scoring just ahead of the tag.

Adam Heitz, P, started hot for the Red Birds allowing just one hit in the 1st inning by Henderson's All-star CF, Luke Frauendienst. Heitz second K in the 1st inning left Frauendienst stranded on 3rd.  Heitz then retired the next 9 batters in order, including striking out the side in the top of the 4th inning.  Heitz has 7 K's through 4 innings facing just one over the minimum of twelve batters.

The winner of this game will play Le Sueur at Bruce Frank Field in Le Sueur on Thursday evening, July 29th with a 7:30 PM start.
