Stoughton got back on the winning track by beating Monona Grove, 8-2. Stoughton's bats got hot and put up 15 hits on the night. Sean Gerber got both the win and went 4-4 at the the plate.

Stoughton suffered another tough loss Friday night against McFarland, 5-4. Stoughton plays Monroe this Friday.

Stoughton lost a great game against Lake Geneva Badger in extra innings on Monday night. The final score was 8-7. Stoughton had several players with multiple hits including Sean Gerber, Jake Wenzel, and Skip Gerber. The Vikings host conference rival, Oregon, Tuesday night.

Edgewood proved again why they are #1 in the state by beating the Vikings 10-0. Stoughton was unable to get anything started and could not stop a very good hitting Crusader team.

Stoughton beat Verona last night 7-6 behind some very good pitching. Justin Hale gave Stoughton 4 solid innings on the mound. Curtis Holverson came in during the fourth and shut down Verona for the final 3 innings to secure the win. Skip Gerber and Reijo Wahlin were the leading hitters for the Vikings. Each had a pair of hits on the night including both hitting rbi doubles. Next game is against #1 State-Ranked and undefeated Edgewood tonight.

Stoughton came away with a split on Saturday against Portage. Conditions could not have been much worse for baseball, but both teams battled the elements. Stoughton lost the first game 5-4. The Viking bats came alive in the second game, beating Portage 14-4. Nick Hite earned his second victory of the season. Sean Gerber hit a homerun for the Vikings. Stoughton will host Verona on Tuesday night.

The Vikings suffered a tough loss to Monroe last night. The Cheesemakers beat Stoughton, 6-5. Monroe took advantage of 5 Stoughton errors. Stoughton plays Thursday against Monona Grove.

The Vikings played host to Appleton East and Beaver Dam on Saturday. Stoughton started the day off with a 8-7 win over Beaver Dam. Nick Hite got the win. In the second game, Stoughton was in control of the game until the 5th inning. Appleton came from behind and beat the Vikings, 7-4. Despite the loss, Eric Melch pitched 4 solid innings. Next game is against Monroe on Tuesday night at Stoughton.

Stoughton won a hard fought game against conference rival, Oregon. Justin Hale got the victory on the night. Final score was 8-7. Skip Gerber went 3-5, driving in 3 runs. Next game is Saturday against Beaver Dam and Appleton East.

The Vikings bounced back from the loss to Edgewood with a victory over McFarland, 14-8. Sean Gerber came away with the win, while, Curtis Holverson picked up the save. Skip Gerber, Mark Schollmeyer, and Tanner Klitkze each had multiple hits on the night. The Vikings next opponent is conference rival, Oregon.

Stoughton took a pair from Mount Horeb on Saturday. In game 1, the Vikings came from behind and won in extra innings on a base hit by Reijo Wahlin. Sean Gerber continued to hit the ball well by blasting his 2nd homerun of the season.

In game 2, the Vikings put together a 15 hit game. Sean's bat stayed hot from the first game and belted another homerun. The Vikings will host Edgewood on Wed.

Stoughton started off the season with a victory over Verona on a very cold and rainy Tuesday night. Stoughton scored first when Mark Schollmeyer hit a two run homerun in the first. Sean Gerber went deep in the second. Kevin O'Donnell pitched a great game considering the poor conditions and got the 4-2 win. Next game is against Mount Horeb on Saturday.



Tonight's game against Lake Geneva Badger has been cancelled and will be made up on May 5th








The Vikings clinched 2nd place in conference by defeating Monroe, 7-4, on Friday night. Dan Timler continued to throw well and got the win.
Eric Gerber and Drew Denner each had quality at bats on the night.

Edgewood showed why they are ranked #2 in the state when they played Stoughton on Thursday night. Edgewood defeated Stoughton, 8-0, behind some very solid pitching and hitting. Eric Gerber, Darrin Arnold, and Taylor Schmid were the only Vikings able to get hits on the night. Stoughton will host Monroe on Friday night. Keep working hard!

The Vikings battled on Friday night for a come from behind victory over Verona, 10-5. Dan Timler had another solid performance on the mound and got the win. Stoughon improved to 6-3 in conference with three games to play. Stoughton will head to the DuckPond on Tuesday to play conference leader, Edgewood. Keep working hard!

The Vikings got back on the winning track by defeating Monona Grove, 4-3. Sean Gerber pitched 6 2/3 innings on way to his 3rd conference win. Sean also was productive at the plate by hitting a solo homrun early in the game. Gerber got some great defensive help from outfielder, Keith Woodstock. Woodstock made some great, heads-up plays in Tuesday night's victory. The Vikings are now in 2nd place in conference. Keep working hard!

Stoughton played #7 state ranked Watertown on Saturday. Sophmore pitcher, Curtis Holverson, pitched yet another great game. Holverson pitched 10 solid innings for the Vikings. Unfortunately, Watertown was able to score 2 runs in the top of 11th and the Vikings were unable to score with their last at bat. Watertown won by a score of 5-3. Darrin Arnold had a great day at the plate by driving in 3 runs. Stoughton hosts Monona Grove on Tuesday.

The Vikings moved up to 2nd place in conference with a win over McFarland Friday night by a score of 1-0. Stoughton got another great pitching performance from Dan Timler. Timler went the distance and got and the win. Skip Gerbers bat remained hot by going 3-3.

Stoughton continues to make some noise in the Badger South Conference race with a win over McFarland on Tuesday by a score of 1-0. Sophmore pitcher, Sean Gerber, went the distance and allowed only 4 hits. Skip Gerber and Keith Woodstock each had a pair of hits on the night. Evan Flood was only player to drive in any runs with a two out single in the 6th that scored Gerber. Sean Gerber had some great defensive help from his little brother at shortsop by a fantastic play made in the bottom of the 7th. Stoughton will host McFarland on Friday night. Keep working hard!

The Vikings had a very big test both Friday and Saturday. Stoughton had to play Badger South Conference leader, Oregon, on Friday night. They then had to host a very impressive Baraboo team that swept the Panther's last weekend on Saturday. How did they fair?

Stoughton came out to play on Friday night by beating Oregon 2-1. Dan Timler pitched a great game and got the win. He also came up with a big hit at the plate. Stoughton improved to 2-3 in conference and are still in the mix of things.

The win against Oregon the night before helped Stoughton's momemtum by beating Baraboo's number one pitcher who one week earlier pitched a no-hitter against Oregon. Sophmore pitcher, Curtis Holverson, got the win. The Vikings won the game by a score of 2-1. The second game was much like the first game. Baraboo trailed most the game, but ended up tying the game late. The game then went into extra innings were Baraboo got a key base hit to drive in the winning run. The Vikings lost 4-3. Freshman pither, Skip Gerber, went the distance and pitched a great game against a very good hitting team. Next game is on Tuesday against McFarland.

Stoughton snapped their 6 game losing streak by beating Monroe on Tuesday night by a score of 9-4. Sean Gerber pitched a solid game. Skip Gerber came in and got the save. Stoughton's bats continued to stay hot by getting 10 hits on the night. Mark Schollmeyer and Darrin Arnold each had homruns for the Vikings. Reijo Wahlin and Keith Woodstock each had multiple hits. Stoughton will host Oregon on Thursday. Keep working hard!

Stoughton dropped 2 more games over the weekend. The Vikings lost a hard fought out game against the #1 State Ranked, Beaver Dam, 7-6 in 8 innings. The Vikings played there best game of the season so far against the Beavers. Curtis Holverson pitched a very nice game against a very aggressive hitting team. Drew Denner came up with clutch homerun to help Stoughton put the game into extra innings.

Plenty of offense in game 2 for the Vikings. Unfortunately, Appleton East did as well. The two teams belted a total of 39 hits in the slugfest. However, Stoughton fell short and lost the game, 18-11. Sean Gerber led the attack with 4 hits. Kevin O'Donnell hit his first homerun of the season and was able to drive in a couple of RBI's on the day. Stoughton travels to Monroe on Tuesday to resume Conference play.


The Vikings were hoping to stop there 3 game losing streak against the undefeated Edgewood Crusaders on Thursday night. Unfortunately, Edgewood remained undefeated in conference by beating Stoughton 13-3. Dan Timler took the loss for Stoughton. Sean Gerber's hitting streak continued when he hit a smashing double to the fence. The Vikings will travel to play Beaver Dam and Appleton East on Saturday. Keep working hard.


The Vikings faced a very tough pitcher in there 5-0 loss to Verona on Tuesday night. Stoughton hitters were only able to come up with 2 hits. Sean Gerber's bat continued to stay hot by going 1-3 with a double. Next game is Thursday against Edgewood.


The Vikings dropped another game on Monday night against the Silver Eagles. Dan Timler pitched a nice game. Unfotunately, a bad 4th inning was the difference in the outcome of the game. Mark Schollmeyer and Sean Gerber each had triples in the game. Keep working hard. Next game is against Verona on Tuesday night.


Due to the inclement weather, Thursday's game against Monona Grove is rescheduled for April 16th. Saturday's doubleheader against DeForest has been rescheduled for May 19th.

The 2006-2007 season didn't start off the way the Vikings wanted it to. Stoughton lost to a very good Lake Geneva Badger team on Tuesday night, 11-0. Sean Gerber led the way for the Vikings by going 2-2.















So close! That is what can be said about the Viking baseball team this past week. The Vikings finished their last 3 conference games by going 1-2. Unfortunately, that wasn't good enough to get a share of the conference title.

Stoughton beat Monroe last Friday night to help their chance at the tile. Unfortunately, Monona Grove and Oregon had different ideas about that. After losing a very emotional game against MG on Monday night in extra innings by a score of 6-5, the Vikings had to rebound and beat Oregon on Tuesday. The Stoughton players showed up like they wanted it and played their hearts out. In the end, Oregon was able to prevail and get the win in extra innings by a score of 9-8.

One thing you can say about the Stoughton baseball players is that they don't give up. Several players were able to come up with some key hits and plays. Jake Brandt finished his last 3 games by hitting 3 homeruns at very crucial times. Matt Dwyer and Matt Ellingson each pitched with desire and a lot of guts. This type of attitude will not go unnoticed when Stoughton will host the winner of the Madison Memorial/Verona winner in the Regional Championship game on June 2nd.

The Vikings suffered their first conference loss to Verona on Thursday night by a score of 4-3. Isaac Olstad pitched a nice game, but didn't get a lot of offensive or defensive support. One of the few highlights of the games was Justin Jarvis driving in 3 runs on triple.

After several days of rain and no baseball the Vikings were finally able to get back to work against a very strong Edgewood team. Two of the areas top pitchers went inning for inning until the very end. Matt Dwyer pitched another jem of a game striking out 11 batters and getting the win. Matt gave up no earned runs on the night.

Several Stoughton players deserve recognition in their 2-1 extra inning victory. Jake Brandt was able to get on base in the bottom of the 7th and score the tying run by some heads up baserunning. Several players including Isaac Olstad, Ryan O'Donnell, and Justin Jarvis laid down some key bunts at crucial times to help out in the victory. One of the best bunts on the night came from third baseman, Evan Flood. With a 2-1 count and the winning run on third, Evan executed a perfect suicide squeeze bunt to score Blaze Nelson.

The Viking baseball team had a very successful week by going 3-0. Stoughton beat McFarland, Lake Geneva Badger, and Whitewater.

Stoughton saw a completely diffferent McFarland team from the first time that they had played each other. McFarland brought better pitching and better hitting for this game. The Vikings were only able to get 5 hits. Fortunately, Stoughton pitcher Matt Ellingson, threw another complete game and only allowed 4 hits and struck out 8. Final score was 3-2.

Leading hitters for Stoughton were Jake Brandt, Evan Flood, and Braden Zehner.

The Vikings traveled to Lake Geneva on Thursday night. Both programs had not played each before this game and learned that they were very similar. Stoughton was able to come from behind from a two run deficit in the top of the 7th. The game ended on a big time play from Justin Jarvis in the bottom of the 7th. A grounder up the middle was hit with the tying run on second, when Jarvis threw a bullet to home and Isaac Olstad was able to apply the tag. Big time play, big time win. The final score was 5-4.

Stoughton pitcher, Isaac Olstad, pitched 6 solid innings allowing only 6 hits. Matt Dwyer came in and finished the game in the 7th.

Stoughton had a total of 9 hits on the night. Jake Brandt continued to drive in runs by adding 2 more rbi's to his team leading total. Matt Dwyer had a clutch hit triple in the 7th and finished the night by going 2-3. Other Stoughton hitters who had some quality plate appearances included Jay Brussow with a pinch hit double and Alek Shumaker driving in a run in the 7th.

Whitewater came to town on Friday night. This was the last time that long time Whitewater head coach, Lynn Held, would coach against the Vikings. Coach Held is retiring after coaching for 20 plus years. Congratulations Coach Held!

The tone of the game was set early when Stoughton scored 4 runs in the first. Braden Zehner went the distance by giving up only 6 hits in the 6-2 win that night.

Even though the temperature was cold, the Viking bats were hot. Evan Flood led Stoughton hitters by going 2-3 and driving in a run. Justin Jarvis, Dwyer, Brandt, Olstad, Ellingson all got a hit on the night. Darrin Arnold had a clutch 2 run double late in the game to give Stoughton some insurance.

The Vikings went through some growing pains this past week.

On Thursday, Stoughton shut down conference rival, Oregon, 6-0. This game was not just a shut out, but a game completely dominated by Stoughon. Matt Dwyer pitched one of his best high school games by throwing a no hitter. In the process, Matt struck out 13 Panther hitters. Jake Brandt continued to be "Mr. Clutch" and drove in 3 runs in the victory.

Unfortunately, the Viking bats and pitching were not quite as strong on Saturday against Baraboo. The Vikings saw a very good Baraboo pitcher who did a nice job of keeping Stoughton hitters off balance. Baraboo also came to hit the ball on Saturday. The Thunderbirds beat Stoughton 4-1 in the first game and took the second game 10-7. Leading hitters on the day were Justin Jarvis going 2-3, Blaze Nelson going 2-3, and Evan Flood going 3-4.

After a sub par performance over the weekend, the Vikings got back on track Tuesday night. Stoughton rattled off 7 hits in their 6-2 victory over Monroe.

Matt Ellingson had another strong performance on the mound. Ellingson went the distance and struck out 10 Cheesemakers in the process. Monroe left Stoughton with only 4 hits and 1 earned run.

Taylor Schmid led the Vikings offense by going 2-3 with a key rbi. Alex Hubing put down a text book suicide squeeze in the third inning which helped change the momentum of the game. Alek Shumaker had a solid day at the plate by going 1-2 with a stand up double.

Stoughton's defense played fairly well by only committing 2 errors. Alek Shumaker made a big league play by throwing out a runner at home from left field in the fourth inning. Finally, Isaac Olstad had another good day behind the plate by not allowing one pass ball.

For the second time in a week the Vikings pounded out 10 hits in their victory over Edgewood 6-3. Stoughton came back after being down 3-0 going into the 4th. Some very timely hitting and good baserunning helped the Vikings take the lead.

Matt Ellingson pitched a very good game allowing only 1 earned run over 6 innings. Matt struck out 5 Crusaders and walked only 1. Matt Dwyer came in the 7th and shut down Edgewood's top three hitters by getting the lead off hitter to ground out and striking out the other two.

Jake Brandt's bat continued to be hot by going 2-3 on the day. Justin Jarvis and Isaac Olstad joined Brandt with each getting two hits and driving in a run.
