Mounties BORN to Play IN THE USA!

Posted April 20, 2012

The Vancouver Mounties will be travelling this weekend to participate in the USSSA Bremerton Battle Invitational Tournament held in various parks throughout Puyallup and Tacoma Washington.  This will be the first of 3 trips the Mounties will be making to play in U.S. tournaments this season.

In the last 3 years the Mounties have squared off against 30 different American baseball clubs.  The Mounties have managed to hold their own on the foreign soil hanging on to a slim 24 - 21 win loss record against the tough American competition.

There will be 7 teams in this tournament with the first 2 games on Saturday being used as seeding for the playoff rounds.  On Sunday it will be a war of attrition as to come out on top the winner of the tournament will have to win 3 games in one day.

The Mounties first game on Saturday will be at 11:00am against Team Combat and their second game is slated for 3:45 against the Northwest Diamond Sports Academy Blue team.  (Please note game time and team change on second game)

As usual the Mounties will have their hands full and will be looking forward to the challenge that always presents itself when they face their friends from the South.  Listed below are the 6 teams that the Mounties will be competing with.

Team Combat
Team Combat is affiliated with the Team Combat Youth Baseball Club which houses 7 teams from 10U to 15U.  These are mainly tournament travel teams and the players come from all over the Pacific Northwest.

Kent Bulldogs Red
The Bulldoogs have been a thorn in the Mounties side beating the Mounties all 4 times that they have played including the Championship Game of the 2010 USSSA Summer Celebration Tournament.  The Kent Bulldogs Red are one of 12 teams affiliated with the Bulldog Athletic Club which is one or the oldest organizations in the Puget Sound area  providing youth baseball for over 20 years.  Bulldog teams have won multiple State Championships in age groups from 12U to 18U and the Mounties know that that to achieve their goals they will have to eventually win a game against the Bulldogs.

PBC Braves Red
The PBC Braves Red are affiliated with the Pro Baseball Club which is comprised of 14 teams ranging from 10U to the 18U Zips Showcase team.  This is a travel team that competes in many tournaments throughout the baseball season.

Seattle Selects Silver
The Seattle Select Baseball Club was started in 2005 and is based in the Seattle area.  It started with one team and is now comprised of 8 teams ranging from 9U thru 18U.   The Seattle Silver Selects Team plays in the Washington State Select Baseball League.  Currently they are sitting in 4th place in the 18 team Cascade Division.

NWDS Accademy Blue
Northwest Diamond Sports Academy provides a top notch program whose goals are to develop each individual player to play at their maximum potentiel by teaching the highest level of play in fundamental baseball.  The Northwest Diamond Sports Academy Blue team is a travel tournament team.

Auburn Cobras
This Auburn Cobra team has been together since 2009.  This year they have become affiliated with the Pro Baseball Club organization.  The Cobra's are a travel/tournament team.

Derby Boys
The Derby Boys were a late entry to the tournament.  They are also affiliated with Team Baseball Youth Baseball.  The Derby boys have a 2 - 1 record so far this season posting wins over the NW Bandits and the perenial powerhouse Dow Baseball Club.
