Mountie Cloverdale Rivalry even exists when raising money for Cancer!

Posted May 11, 2012

As Mother's Day approaches the Vancouver Mounties "Running Home to Beat Breast Cancer" campaign has seen some interesting pledges.  One Cloverdale Black coach wanting to support the cause but could not bear the thought of cheering for the Mounties has taken matters into his own hands and has decided to pledge for each run the Cloverdale Red Team scores.

Brian Collins, father of 2010 Mountie alumni Chris and Kenny, who now lives in Connecticut noticed the fundraiser on the website and jumped on board to support the fundraiser but in his email he asked "Who are you playing that day? If it's Cloverdale I'm pledging per run; if it's the younger Victoria team then I'm going with a fixed amount."

Another Cloverdale family, the Robinsons whose son Mitch was a pickup when the Mounties went to the Nationals in 2010, have also made a generous donation towards the cause.

The Mounties expect to ell exceed their target of $1,000.00 and have decided raise the bar to a target of $1,500.00.  The Mounties encourage all to jump on board for a good cause, wear pink on that day and support Cancer Research for Breast Cancer.
