Mounties Happy to go ON THE ROAD AGAIN!
Posted May 24, 2012
Other then the travel the Mounties would rather play all their games on the road. The Mounties home park at Hillcrest is a joke and is probably the worst Bantam AAA facility in the league. It is quite embarrassing when top level teams from other cities come to the great city of Vancouver, and play at our park.
In the past 10 years our volunteers were able to cut our own grass and at least make the field presentable, but this year the Vancouver Park board has elected to send out Park Rangers to take our volunteers names, and have given us a directive that we are no longer able to cut the grass ourselves. A decision that has now made our sub standard facilities much worse. There is a new saying at the park this year that "you better hit it over the fence because it sure isnt going to roll there."
It
is actually quite exciting to play at parks that have washroom
facilities that are close enough to the diamond so that players,
coaches, and parents can actually use them during a game. The trees
around the Bantam diamond at Hillcrest Park will be getting a much
needed rest this weekend.
So to the Leagues and Municipalities
in Ridge and White Rock the Vancouver Mounties are glad to be on the
road again to play on your fields this weekend, and the Mounties will be
grateful to you all, for providing great facilities for us to play on.
