Mounties Win Gold at Yakima TSF Challenge Tournament
The Vancouver Mounties won all 3 games on Sunday and walked away as undefeated Champions at the Yakima TSF Challenge.  The Mounties started off the day with a 12-4 win over the previously undefeated Yakima Valley TSF to finish first in their pool.

In the Semi final crossover game the Mounties then played the Yakima Dirt Dawgs who finished  2nd on the other side of the pool.  The Weather was heating up and so were the Mountie bats. The Mounties won this game in the first inning when they sent 14 batters to the plate and were sporting a 10 - 0 lead after the inning.  As is the norm when you have big innings the bats sometimes get a bit to anxious and the runs sometimes dry up.  Behind the stellar pitching of Huntley the Mountie defence rose to the occasion and the Mounties coasted to a 10 - 0 Semi Final Victory.

In the Championship game the Mounties once again had to face the Yakima Valley TSF team who rallied in their semi final game with a 3 run come from behind homerun to defeat the Wenatchee Vipers by an 8 - 6 score.

TSF had their big lefty ace ready and the Mounties batters battled him hard and were able to score 1 run in the first and second innings and held a 2 - 1 lead after 2 innings despite leaving 5 runners on base.  The Mounties broke the game open in the bottom of the 3rd when Wright came up with the bases loaded and worked an 0-2 count to full and hit a 2 out bases clearing double.  The Mounties plated another run in the inning and led 6 - 1 after 3 complete innings.

The Mounties went on to win the Championship game by a 10 - 2 score.

The Mounties finally knocked out the TSF ace in the 4th inning forcing him to throw 120 pitches on the day.  Espig got the start for the Mounties and shut down the big hitting American TSF Team who had hit 7 home runs earlier in the tournament.  Nesplack came in to close and got the last two outs to end the game.

It was a grueling tournament with the Mounties playing 5 games in 27 hours.  It was a long trip and the boys played hard each and every game.  It was also only the 3rd time in Mountie history that they have won 3 games in one day.

Mounties Through to Semi's
The Vancouver Mounties won both their pool games in convincing fashion and have secured a spot in the Semi final Game on Sunday.  In the first game the Mounties used some small ball to get things going and then some long ball when William Quito delivered his first Bantam AAA home run.  The Mounties rattled off 20 hits to defeat the Richland Rays in 4 innings by a 16 - 0 score.  Mounties pitcher Taylor Wright pitched a complete game no hitter.

In the 2nd game the Mounties doubled up the South Sound Slam by a 10 to 5 score to clinch a semi final birth.  The Mounties will finish up their pool play on Sunday morning when they meet the undefeated host Yakima Valley TSF team.  The winning team will place first in the pool and the loser will place 2nd.

On the other side of the pool the Wenatchee Vipers came first with a 2-0-1 record and the Yakima Dirt Dawgs came 2nd with a 2-1 record.

The Mounties are slated to play 3 games tomorrow and will have to be at their best.

In the other division in Yakima the Cloverdale Red Team is 2-0 and also has advanced to the Semi finals.

Mounties to Face Tough Competition in "TSF CHALLENGE!"
The schedule has been released for the TSF CHALLENGE Tournament in Yakima Washington and the Mounties find themselves in the Pool of Death.  Joining the Mounties will be the host Yakima Valley TSF team along with South Sound Slam and the Richland Rays.

The Mounties open up against the Richland Rays Select Team who are mainly a tournament team but have a 6 - 3 - 1 record playing in the Yakima Spring League.

Up next for the Mounties will be the South Sound Slam Team that hails out of Puyallup Washington  The Slam are currently sitting in 2nd place with a formidable 7 - 3 - 1 record in the Puyallup Select Baseball League.

In their 3rd game of the pool the Mounties will face the host Yakima Valley TSF Team.  This is a very tournament savy team who just a couple of weeks ago came out victorious winning the "Mothers Day Battle for the Cure Tournament." Yakima Valley will be using this tournament as a tune up before they travel to Lake Tahoe in July to participate in the "Hardcore Baseball World Series Tournament."

If that task isn't daunting enough and the Mounties are fortunate enought to make it through that first group to the crossover, waiting for them on the other side of the pool will be, either the Yakima Dirt Dawgs, Wenatchee Vipers, Washington Senators, or the Tri City Gold Sox.

The Mounties will play two games on the Saturday and on Sunday morning they will play their 3rd game and to complete their pool play.  Semi Finals and Championship Game will follow.  It will be a tough road for the Mounties to win this one as it will be a long two days of baseball.  Actually to win this tournament the Mounties will have to travel 5 hours to get to Yakima, play 5 games in 27 hours, and then travel another 5 hours to get home.

No one said it was going to be easy and you know the boys will be setting their sights high and shooting for the moon.  I guess that's why they call this one the: "TSF CHALLENGE"
