Tri City Loses Costly $$Appeal$$
Posted June 16, 2012
The
Angels filed a protest after that game when they felt the umpire erred
when he made an out call due to an incorrect batting order. On June 6th
the Angels won their protest in that game but included in that decision
the B.C. Minor protest committee under rule 22.04 ruled that
Abbotsford Manager Pankratz used an ineligible player and ejected him
from the remainder of the protested game and also an additional game.
In an
ironic twist of fate not only did Tri City Manager Downes lose his
appeal, and $100, the appeal decision reversed the earlier decision
that Pankratz used an ineligible player, cleared Pankratz of any wrong
doing, and lifted the previous suspension.
The game will be replayed from the point of protest as clearly stated in B.C.Minor rule 21.02 (D) When
a protest based on an interpetation of a rule is upheld by the league
of B.C.M.B.A. the game shall be replayed from the point of protest.
The game will resume in the top of the 5th inning with Abby batting,
with 2 out, and the bases loaded. Tri City was leading 6 - 4 at the
time.
