Axemen at Coon Valley
Posted July 1, 2012
The Mauston Axemen headed to Coon Valley to Play CCV (Chaseburg-Coon Valley Blues) on the first of July. The game was tied and dead even through three innings of play. CCV shut out the Axemen in the top of the fourth, and took advantage of Axemen mistakes in the bottom half of the inning. CCV scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to give them an 8-4 lead. Axemen scored one run in the top of the fifth to get them back into the game. However, CCV continued to take advantage of Axemen errors and scored seven more runs in the fifth and sixth innings. The Axemen were not able to respond and got ten-run-ruled through seven innings. The final score of the game was 15-5 favoring CCV. Defensive errors, hit batters from the pitching staff, and lack of performance from the bottom of the order proved to be more than enough for the Axemen to lose. Their record is now 4-2, and their next game is Saturday July 7, 2012 at 1:30 pm Home against Sparta-Miller.
