Mounties Squeeze past Cloverdale Midget AAA Team
With the Mounties scheduled to go up against the Coquitlam Jr. team in the consolation game, Tournament Coordinator Robichaud decided that it would be best for all if the rematch did not occur and substituted the Cloverdale Midget AAA team to be the Mounties opponent.

It was a spirited game which had a short delay due to a dog that made its way onto the field.  In a scene reminiscent of a comedy movie gone bad the owners and their 3 year old son, and the Mountie outfielders chased the dog but to no avail.  The game continued with the dog running around the field, sleeping in the field, and doing his business in the field.  Thankfully the dog finally decided after about 20 minutes to leave through a hole in the outfield fence and the game continued with the proper amount of people on the field.

It was a spirited game as the Mounties took the early lead only to watch the Midget AAA team come back with 5 runs in the top of the 5th inning to take a 8 - 7 lead.  Due to the time limit on the game the Mounties were told that the bottom of the 5th would be their last bats of the game.

The Mounties determined to come back tied the game up when Hirakawa-Kao scored on a past ball after he got a double and was bunted to 3rd by Kingsbury.  The Mounties then loaded the bases and with 1 out.  The game ended suddenly when Kingsbury scored on a perfectly executed suicide squeeze play.

The Mounties ended up 3 - 1 in the tournament.  The Vancouver Mounties baseball club would like to thank the Cloverdale Parents and tournament organizers who did a great job with many difficulties including teams dropping out at the last minute and many game changes due to rain.  Cloverdale parents worked relentlessly to get the fields dry and it was amazing that the games all got in.  Cloverdale Black Spurs held on to beat the Abbotsford Angels 8 - 6 in the Championship final.

Fireworks Go Off One Day Late!
The Vancouver Mounties still smarting from a 10 - 0 loss to the Cloverdale Black Spurs which knocked them out of the Championship game came out firing on all cylinders and put on a hitting and running display which put up 22 runs in the first two innings of play.  On the defensive side of the ball Mounties starter Huntley now joins Wright as the 2nd Mountie pitcher to pitch a no hitter this year.

Although the Mounties provided most of the fireworks on this day the melt down by the Coquitlam Jr. coach who was ejected to the swing sets will go down as one of the most colorful ejections in Mountie History.  The ejection sparked the Coquitlam team as the Mounties were unable to put up any more runs in the last 3 innings and held on for a 22 - 0 victory over the overmatched Coquitlam Jr. Baseball team. A team that was outscored by an aggregate score of 55 - 0 in 15 innings against B.C. Minor Bantam AAA Teams.

Mounties win Skills Contest at Tournament!
The Vancouver Mounties won the team Skills contest at the Cloverdale Cup Tournament.  The contest had a little bit of everything and after a rocky start the Mounties put together some strong efforts and ended up edging out Victoria Black in a tie breaker.

Spurs Blank Mounties!
The Cloverdale Black Spurs continued their dominance over the Mounties by beating them by a 10 - 0 score.  It is the second time in the past couple of weeks that the Mounties have been shut out by the Black Spurs.  The Spurs scored early and often jumping out to an 8 - 0 lead after 2 innings. The Mounties tried to fight back but were unable to score any runs leaving 10 men stranded on base  in the contest.

Mounties Wins in the Dark!
The Vancouver Mounties in an almost deja vu scenario were once again playing in the dark against a Red team in Cloverdale. Although it was a different park and a different team and only one of the 3 umpires was present their were a lot of the same suspects hanging out in the stands behind home plate to bring back haunting memories.

This game ended with the Mounties in the dark getting the final 3 outs and defeating the Abbotsford Angels in the tournament opener by a 9 - 6 score.
