Mounties Make No Apologies!

Posted May 1, 2013

The Vancouver  Mounties belched out 8 hits in the first inning to touch off a 10 run outburst to stake the Mounties to a dominating 10 run lead after the first inning.  The Mounties were chastised for continuing to put up runs against a Brave team that has no quit in them and has demonstrated many times in this young season that they can come back from large deficits.  The Mounties make No Apologies and will never let up against any team until the final out is made.

The Mounties drifting around the middle of the pack knew with a win tonight that they would slowly inch their way back up to the upper echelon of the league standings.  The team was sparked early on defence when Kingsbury ended the first inning throwing a dart from centerfield to double up the Brave runner who was trying to reach 3rd after tagging up on a fly ball.  That play seemed to ignite the Mounties who were smarter at the plate tonight mixing in 8 hits with 3 walks and a HBP while sending 14 players to the plate to bottle the game up in the 1st inning.

With the Mounties leading by a 10 score, Burnaby got on the board in the top of the 2nd when they scored a run.  The bats continued to stay hot and the Mounties answered back with 3 more in the bottom of the 2nd and 3 more in the bottom of the 3rd to extend their lead to 16 - 1 after 3 complete innings.

Burnaby put up 2 runs in the 4th inning, however the Mounties kept answering the bell and got 1 back in the bottom of the inning.  In the top of the 5th Burnaby showed a lot of moxie continuing to play hard and put up 2 more runs before the Mounties were able to close the door and get the final out.  Final Score Mounties 17 Burnaby 5.

Younan picked up the win going the full pull giving up 5 runs on 7 hits, 2HBP  while striking out 3 Brave batters.  The Mounties offence totalled 14 hits with Currie and Younan lead the way with 3 each while Ensing and Yang each chipped in with a pair.  Ensing had 4 RBI,s  while Younan, Lee and Currie each contributed 3.  Yang and Hogan led in the all important statistic each scoring a trio of runs.
