Posted May 13, 2013

In light of recent developments many people have been asking how many teams in B.C. Minor use the same nickname.   On a quick unofficial survey it became apparent that their were quite a few duplications of names. The Mosquito division is leading the way with 3 teams using the Blue Jays name, while White Sox and Expos are also popular with 2 teams each sharing those names.  Not to be outdone Pee Wee AA has 4 different sets of teams using the same moniker.  While Midget AA has 3 sets of teams using the same handle.  Pee Wee AA and Bantam AAA each have a pair of teams sharing the same name.

Most popular names seem to be A's shared by 6 different B.C. Minor Associations (Tsawwassen, Okanagan, N. Delta, Ladner, Newton, and White Rock) While 3 other namesakes Blue Jays (N. Delta, Newton, Surrey, Cloverdale, White Rock) Cardinals (Surrey, Cloverdale, White Rock, North Delta, Newton) and Yankees ( Van. Minor, White Rock, Newton, N. Delta, Ladner) are used by 5 different Associations.  In Total 17 different B.C. Minor Associations share the same team nickname with another Association.
