Orioles Pitching and Defense Kills them in Big Loss to Top Region Team
The Orioles were coming off of a great team and defensive win over Mount Vernon and now they were going to play West Central. West Central is the top team in the region according to record. The Orioles used Senior Delane Hood to pitch against Jonah Recterbaugh for West Central.
In the top of the first, Devon Jongeling would walk however three strikeouts around him caused no one to score. In the bottom of the first, two walks and a double play would make the inning easy for the Orioles. Three strikeouts made the top of the second go away easily for West Central. In the home half of the second, a double, two singles and a walk led to West Central scoring two runs and taking a two to zero lead. Three Lennox Oriole walks followed by a single would score two Lennox runs and give Lennox a two to two tie after two and a half innings. In the bottom of the third, a homerun, two single, and a double scored three runs for West Central and gave them a five to two lead. Lennox would get a walk however he was left on first with two strikeouts and a line out. Into the bottom of the fourth, a homerun would lead to a single, two walks, and two hit by pitches to score three runs and made it eight to two West Central. Then Nick Kayl came in with one out and he gave up a single, a double, a triple, two walks, and three hit by pitches to score nine runs and end the game seventeen to two on the fifteen run rule.
The Orioles ended up getting one hit and only two runs. They had one error and they were out hit 12 to 1.
